Be sure to take a look at the backwall thinning associated with pipe bending.
You might check the International Pipe Association Voluntary Bending Standard (IPA VIBS-86). It gives some recommendations about calculating the wall thickness for induction bends.
tolga11,
4000 meters sounds to me like a pipeline. Pipelines aren't typically designed to B31.3. Most pipeline systems are designed to B31.4 or B31.8. B31.3 is typically a process piping spec.
While they may be technically "qualified" but it appears that they are having some problems with the higher strength material. There are subtle and not so subtle differences when welding high yeild pipe. Most of the procedures I've reviewed the past couple of years use 5p+ (6010) bead and hot...
Which code are you welding to?
Also, did the welders qualify on a procedure using X60 pipe? Base material is an essential variable in API 1104 and qualifying using Grade B doesn't necessarily qualify them on X60.

API 650 is the code typically used in tank construction.
The size of the tanks is a factor of how much storage you require and the capabilities of the contractor that you will use to construct the tanks.
With respect to secondary containment dykes, the standard in the USA is that they must...
As far as standards I'm not sure if there are any that directly cover welding inside the pipe. In the United States OSHA may have some regulations prohibiting this type of work if it is considered "confined space". Different Operating companies may also have some guidelines with respect to...
A substantial pressure difference between the upstream and downstream side of a valve can make it difficult to open a valve. On most mainline block valves (MLBV) a bypass or equalization line (consisting of a smaller valve on either side of the MLBV and some associated piping) is constructed...
CRG,
Most of the projects that I have been involved in (both the engineering and construction side) were done with FBE. It is a fairly inexpensive system and is easy to use in the field. Repairs to the coating can be made very easily and coating of the field joints is simple as well. Shrink...
mrf,
Take a look at www.insituform.com.
United Pipeline Systems (a subsidiary of Insituform) has experience with HDPE lining for all types of products.

Imtiyaz,
In order to do this you need to know a little more about the pipeline, for instance: How much does the line need to lowered? What service the line is in? What length of pipe needs to be lowered?
The calculations for the lowereing scheme are fairly simple and are based on the minimum...
Thanks for the help. Sharq, what grade pipe was used? I am researching criteria for a Hydrogen Pipeline. Right now it is not known what the operating conditions will be. I just want to have a good idea of what I need to specify when I go out for quotes on material. Again thanks for the help.
