API 650 Tanks-Corrosion of Annular Plate

We have 2 nos 20 Mtr dia Naphtha Storage tanks designed as per API650. These were installed in 1965-66. Till about two years ago we were monitoring corrosion of the external portion of the bottom annular plate. The tanks were moth balled for two years and attempts are now being made to...

    Sound proof enclosure

Gentlemen, Thank you for your response. I am afraid I cannot consider a masonary wall as the enclosure has to be movable. However, the ice box concept is great. Going by the advice you have given, I plan to make an outer box with a couple of layers of GYP board in the cavity. I will however try...

    Sound proof enclosure

For an experiment that I am trying to setup, I have to fabricate a small sound proof enclosure. I thought that an enclosure using just sheets of Polystyrene foam would perform admirably. Unfortunately it is not so. Should I be using an additional barrier of sponge or some such sound absorbing...

    ANSI Standard B16.5, B16.1, B16.42

Dear CJ1001, As far as I know there is no standard for painting flanges. In order to identify different materials we usually have a code. Eg to differentiate between A105 and A182 or A350 etc. they all appear the same from a distance. This paint in the form of bands is applied on the rim of the...

    Thermal Expansion

Dear rshook, Here is a fix which I have succesfully used in the past in our organisation. Presumably the line is insulated. Suggest you heat the pipe upto a temp of 300deg then make up the pump end connection, align the pump etc. You may need to provide more insulation than necessary to reduce...

    what Is the strongest shape

I agree with Prex as far as shape (cylindrical with dished ends/caps) is concerned. I however do not subscribe to a longitudinal weld. nrp12345

    Thermal Expansion

rshook, The thermal expansion is <1.5mm. The expansion loop reqd is small. Can you consider reorienting the tank nozzle or routing the line from another nozzle?
