3 Phase, 9 lead, 6 contactors control motor not running

Thanks electricuwe the devil is in the details. The nine motor leads terminate at 3 terminal blocks in control panel. The six contactors control the motor. C3(contactor)C5 STARTING C4,C6 ACCELERATING C1,C5,C6 RUNNING C3,C5 BRAKING Motor leads continuity below. T7-T8-T9. T1-T4. T3-T6. T2-T5...

3 Phase, 9 lead, 6 contactors control motor not running

Hello, Voltage was o.k but when checking continuity I found 2 motor leads that were terminated at starter panel reversed . On the bright side I am able to get motor to spin when start button is pushed but only the first 2 contactors close (Starting) the prox that is detecting rpm is...

3 Phase, 9 lead, 6 contactors control motor not running

I have a few details 480volt, 3phase, 9 lead motor with all nine leads terminating at 3 contactors. DOL line starting energizes 2 contactors they time out/drop out and 2 contactors accelerate motor after motor reaches speed 2 contactors close running motor at speed. I have been told motor...

    Tool Suppliers

I have used the following website for all my wiha and knipex tools. http://chadstoolbox.com/ Fluke makes a great Digital volt meter for general troubleshooting ,checking fuses and current less than 100 amps. http://us.fluke.com/usen/products/Fluke++T5.htm I love Wiha hand tools in my humble...

    Unusual markings on motor nameplate.

I have inherited a motor with a nameplate marked Y/YY 460v 30/93A I am not familiar with Y/YY on nameplate and also not sure why different amperage ratings with only one voltage rating any insight would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for any replies. If...

NFPA 79 - wire nuts not suitable for motor connections ?

I have seen lots of wirenuts fail and in my experience water and other conductive materials fit nicely right next to the conductors. On a different note I have seen contactors, lugs and just about everything else that a wire can terminate to fail because someone hasn't stripped the insulation...

    Measuring motor current?

Thanks davidbeach that answers my questions and clears some of the fog in my head.

    Measuring motor current?

Why does the NEC require derating current carrying conductors installed in the same raceway?

    Measuring motor current?

What effect could having multiple loads in the same raceway have on the measured current? Could I expect the measured current to be lower if wiring to loads was physically seperated? I have a panel with 13 motor starters in it motor nameplate FLA-24A but most motors are drawing between...

    Measuring motor current?

If I have a motor 150' away from the contactor controlling it and I measure current at the peckerhead and then take a second measurement at the contactor assuming no change in load and regardless of wiring methods should the measurements be identical? Is it relevant where you measure current in...

    VFD overvoltage fault ?

Thanks to all who have responded. Currently the stall parameter is disabled and the input voltage parameter is set to 500volts. So far only 1 fault on overload 3rd shift on Wednesday and no faults over the weekend.

    VFD overvoltage fault ?

Thank You David. No the load is not overriding/overhauling conveyor.

    VFD overvoltage fault ?

Sorry Itsmoked I googled overriding conveyor and I still don't understand the term. Would someone care to enlighten me please?

    VFD overvoltage fault ?

The wiring from the analog ouput at the plc is shielded cable in its own conduit (18 gauge) less than 50 foot away from drive. The HMI communicates with the plc via ethernet.
