Mechanica won't start from within WF4

I normally start Mechanica by going to Applications/Mechanica from within ProE (WF4). I recently changed to the latest version of Internet Explorer (I was on 8). Anyways, now when I go to Mechanica, the part regenerates and nothing else happens. I am able to bring up Mechanica independently...

    axisymmetric model with contact-compatible mesh?

I was able to fix my problem. The issue is similar to mating straight-sided gears. Only a part of the each gear face is in contact. I slightly undercut my mating faces to that the contact areas exactly matched. The contact connections then worked. For my purposes this was good enough...

    axisymmetric model with contact-compatible mesh?

I'm working on an axisymmetric model of a rod and locking collar with multiple teeth. This resembles a nut and bolt, but the "threads" of the bolt aren't helical. I've set up contact connections between the teeth faces, but when I do a check run of the model, I get an error saying that contact...

    Mesh.

I have not tried this yet, but you can go to http://learningexchange.ptc.com and view a tutorial on Autogem meshing. You will need a userid, but it requires only a few minutes to register.

Adding shells to a beam framework model in Mechanica?

I figured this out finally. I first put a number of points on the datum curves making up my framework, in areas I would be creating the shells. I then sketched the extrusions for the shells using multiple line segments to those points. In Mechanica I compressed the shells and created elements...

Adding shells to a beam framework model in Mechanica?

I'll add some info. I sketched a think extrusion on top of the datum curves in proE, and then was able to create a shell in Mechanica. But the model fails as unconstrained at the shell, so I assume the edges are not connected to the beams. When I try to create a rigid link, I can't pick a...

Adding shells to a beam framework model in Mechanica?

My first post; bear with me if this is obvious and I missed it. I've created a 2d framework model to represent a machine base. The beams were created from a sketched set of datum curves from proE. [using Toogood's tutorial book, as I almost always am doing solid analysis of thick parts, and...

Mechanica crashes during when plotting results

Okay, I did the 3gb switch change to the .ini file, and I'm not using continuous tone. I'm ok with both display and changing the legend, so that's a step in the right direction. I'm using a cutting surface to see "inside" the model, and if I ask for a view max, model max, or dynamic query, the...

Mechanica crashes during when plotting results

I've an assembly model with four parts. I can plot a quantity, for example max prin stress. But when I try to adjust the legend, the program crashes. I can get results by plotting the components separately, but I'd like to be able to show all. I found one similar post on another forum, but...

Assembly analysis model results windows can't be shown

I finally tried exiting proE and restarting the program, and was able to get results plots. Pro doesn't like to let go of used memory sometimes.

Assembly analysis model results windows can't be shown

Hi all, I'm running a Mechanica assembly model in WF4. Nothing exotic, three parts with a load placed on one part and a restraint on another. The model appears to run fine. But after when I try to plot the results window for any quanity or option, I get this message: "None of the selected...
