Thanks rnd2 really appreciate that info, i cant see it having a big effect either.
Might as well be bold and ask you if you could suggest a speed range, got a presentation next week and am struggling to find any sources.
Thanks
Hey guys gonna be doing a study into the effects of surface finish (abraided and non-abraided)on the frictional characteristics between aluminium 7075, and Polyurethane(1.4u)
in dynamic conditions.
Any info on experimental techniques would be greatly appreciated
QCE: Im from Northern Ireland, so that wont work, but thanks for the info, maybe try and get an irish passport now, lol.
frenchcanuck: My degree is accredited by IEEE, so hopefully that should be enough.
moltenmetal: i know its gonna be tough, but thats life. I promise i wont complain if i...
CdotS: Yeah thats exactly it mate, just need to define the COF, and implied Friction forces involved, i know its quite vague, but im still reading up on the experiment myself.
Was just looking to see if anyone recognised the experiment, or knew any good links, cheers
cheers mate have a look into it.
Its dynamic friction, aluminium will be abraided in a circular pattern(this cannot be changed), just wanna know if theres anything i should know before we begin experimenting.
Its for forming process, boss wants to know the frictional characteristics between...
QCE: Youre right mate, wots the worst?. Gonna go over this summer, start lookin, come home for a year sort all my stuff out, then give it a real go.
PS. i wouldnt mind changing careers if the quality of life was worth it, but i had to work incredibly hard to get my degree, seems like a waste...
Hey just wandering if anyone knows where i could find information on discovering the frictional characteristics between two materials, eg Aluminium and Polyurethane
Thanks
cheers guys, definately gonna give it a go now, sure at worst i just have to come home.
DRILLERNIC, most of my experience is with CAD, and in a drawing office, but im greedy, i'll go where the doe is.
COKA, live in NORTHERN Ireland, so could probably handle the north of Canada, im guessing ts...
Just a quick question about job prospects in ur respective areas.
As a newly graduated engineer from N.Ireland, i had every intention of moving to Canada (Got some family there, always here wonderful things about it), however after reading through some of these posts it seems Canada is NOT the...
What are the relative advantages and disadvantages between these methods, when calculating residual stresses in open-ended, thick-walled cylinders?
Thanks
