We balanced the impeller at operating speed. I guess I am not clear on what you are refering to when you suggest checking the balance in a "pan like manner". Are you suggesting static balancing? Thanks!
Adam
Please note that we have balanced the impeller and reinstalled it with no change in vibration. The impeller has also been ground true to the 13.87" diameter.

Ladies and Gents,
We are investigating the cause of vibration during the operation of a cantilever pump. It should be noted that the pump has vibrated ever since the impeller was changed some months ago.
We have found that the center of the impeller eye is NOT the center of the impeller...
We have a split case pump in for repair and there is excessive cavitation damage to one side of the casing around the wear ring fit. The impeller vanes on both sides of the impeller have 1" diameter holes at suction. There is relatively no damage to the discharge portion of the casing nor the...
Assuming this is water service and the pump runs constantly and the right controls are installed (i.e. valving etc.) would this set-up be a problem? As long as there is enough head right?
You are correct. I guess what I would really like is a reference source so that, when I do have the data needed, I will be able to make the proper decision. Any suggestions?
I am looking for some direction on the material of construction for pumping a fluid with 500ppm chlorides. (45-50 GPM). I do not have a temperature, which affects the considerations. Is there any reference material anyone can direct me towards? I am pretty sure that 316SS is not the correct...
As was stated by Artisi and BigInch these pumps are not the correct selection for the application regardless if they meet the NPSHr. Pumps are designed to run at BEP...not 140% BEP...where problems can be expected. So if you speed the pumps up you will still be damaging the pumps and reducing...

I would be interested to know whether or not you could have a Pitbull assembled in such a way that it would fit your application. The intake clearence dimension is probably recommended so that the intake does not get plugged by any solids you may have in your sump system.
If you have any...
