    Initial sketcher dimensions too big!

There is no config.pro option to change this. I've seen some people use a start part with a dimensioned 1" surface, in order to scale the first feature. The surface can then be deleted, after the first sketch. Personally I just have a habit of zooming in with the wheel a couple times...

Best reasons to keep work in house

When I think of the projects I've done over the past few years, there is a common theme. My customers were short on time, internal experience, internal manpower or some combination so they got outside help. The funny thing is they keep coming back for more rather than hiring internally. If...

Pro/E WF v. SWx for college setting: anyone for Pro/E?

this is just word of mouth, but many people say Pro/E users get paid more than Solidworks users statisticly. If I was a student, I'd seek a university with Pro/E. http://www.rmeng.com

P-element method Vs. H-code for Pressure vessels

yes it's easy but convergence is not the holy grail. It's quite possible to converge on a poor solution due to improper boundary conditions, I see it every day. An engineer might converge on nonsense and assume because he's within 1% convergence he's good to go. I bet statisticly thats more...

    Pro/Mechanica on buckeling

Pro/Mechanica predicts quite well the occurence of buckling with the BLF factor, but it provides no qualitative or quantitative info beyond that. I agree its not the best buckling software bacuse of those limitations.

P-element method Vs. H-code for Pressure vessels

If you are nervous about not having 5 layers, you could always use volume regions to force mechanica to use 5 layers. I think you would find the same results, but it would be an interesting comparison. Perhaps test it on a simple model. You may also be interested in the new interia relief...

    Wildfire 3.0 video tips

Thanks for the heads up guys. I fixed the firefox problem by removing the semi-transparent text boxes. I also added a link to the techsmith codec. Let me know if there are problems, I want everybody to be able to get these that wants them. Good suggestions on the mechanism skeleton, I'll be...

    Wildfire 3.0 video tips

I did use snagit to make the videos so that would explain the need for the techsmith codec I guess. here is the codec, hopefully it will show the video portion with the codec http://www.techsmith.com/download/codecs.asp Regarding the links, it may be Firefox related. My server log shows about...

    Wildfire 3.0 video tips

Perhaps the server was too busy or something, perhaps you could try again. There is a lot of traffic on that page. Yesterday the server locked up and had to be rebooted. Maybe you were clicking at that time. You could also try to right click on the link and choose "save taget as" Possibly...

    Pro/M solver

That question requires an understanding of the definition of SPA and MPA. The shortfall of SPA is that you dont get a convergence plot. You basically jump to a high p-level in the second pass. (yes single always makes 2 passes) The solution isn't going to be better or worse. If you dont plan...

Finding the Average Temperature of a Surface

You could create a point pattern on the surface and create measures on the points. Then create a computed measure to average them.
