Tonyowens, I am interested in this application, perhaps you can pass along some additional information for me to research. Have you had any floropolymer degredation at temps close to 300°C? I'll check into SiC-coated steel pipes, I was unaware of that; I'm sure there are some special thermal...
I have looked into Tantalum and there appears to be some potential success, however, 260° seems to be a limitation due to hydrogen embrittlement. Pfaudler makes a high temperature glass that supposedly can handle this sulfuric, but testing really has to be done. I also agree that gasketing is...
I am trying to develope a process that involves boiling sulfuric acid, 91% Sulfuric acid at 260°C. I am curious if anyone else has had any success in finding a material of construction capable of taking these harsh conditions. the material would be used to construct the reactor vessel. So far...
We would want to remove a broad range of metals, mainly:
Sodium from ~300-500ppm to <150ppm
Molybdenum from ~100-200ppm to <50ppm
others are potassium, chromium and nickel
All these are mainly due to corrosion in the system. They accumulate over time and contaminate the system.
Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of techonology that would enable the removal of metals from a chlorinated organic acid stream. This acid is highly corrosive (Hast-C/Zirc and Tantalum are normal for this service) and using distillation has been looked into, but is not as cost...
I understand what you both are saying. I too (recently) just went through the same calculations and discovered (once again) that I have to install a small relief for every valid blocked in heat exchanger case. I also know what your senior engineer is looking for, Parimal, since I recently was...
Fortunately the flowrate range I'm looking at 200-250 GPM and the pump sizes do not require NPSHr much past ~7-8 ft. Thanks for the input. This is one area in which I'm still getting a feel for.
My guess is that you are assuming that the water in the tube may never reach the design pressure of the pipe and therefore why would you want to install a relief valve?
My understanding is that thermal expansion in a closed system can drastically raise the pressure. Here is an article that may...
We have several self-priming stainless centrifugal pumps that have been running for 15 years and have given us very little trouble. I do not have nuts and bolts flying into the impeller, but I do have a Manganese Dioxide powder as well as plastic pellets (and the occasional plastic trash in any...
I too have a very similar application. We have stainless pumps that have been running for 15 years and have given us very littlel trouble. In my case I may not have nuts and bolts flying into the impeller, but I do have a Manganese Dioxide powder as well as plastic pellets (and the occasional...
