Hehe...
Funny you should say that Rafiq, that is exactly where I am!
I'm finishing my electrical apprenticeship, on my last block in advanced here at school, and I cannot always get straight answers from the teachers when it comes to interpretation of the Canadian Electrical Code... everyone...
Ok, thanks all,
I wasn't asking about fault protection, I was asking about what would protect the secondary conductors or, as in the example I'd mentioned, what would protect an MCC connected to the transformer, if a sustained current draw of some 500A or so were to occur on the secondary...
Evening Gents,
Does anyone else find this odd? Am I missing something here?
I'm looking at the Canadian Electrical Code, rule 26-252 (I'll paste the rule in its entirety at the end of this post), which states that I should protect the primary feeders with a circuit breaker rated at up to 300%...
Hello OperaHouse,
Thanks for the "heads up", am finding lots of interesting info as a result of your suggestion. A lot of reading to be done yet.
and, Hello hacksaw,
There certainly is no dust of any kind in that environment, but what you're saying makes good sense and any kinds of...
Hi Robert-Jan,
The strange thing is that the arc appears to have happened between the two outer lugs of the switch. I've seen a 100A disconnect with a loose lug burn #3 AWG wire to the point where there were only 1 or 2 strands left, the insulation on that leg was burnt clean off the copper...
Just to clarify things for desertfox,
in a helpful way, I hope it would be taken, from which statement:
"To my knowledge the RMS power is the equivalent power to that of a DC circuit."
I would say that DC power is equal to "RMS power x 0.9".
Is this correct folks, is that all there is to it...
Thanks guys,
Looking at the cover here, I have to say that the marks on the cover most certainly appear to be nothing but the spatter of the molten metal off the screws.
For some of you, I have to point out that no, there absolutely has been no lightning in this area (Toronto, ON, Canada) of...

Hello everyone,
Attached is a photo of a disconnect switch that was installed to disconnect a 600V, 3-phase, 30A water heater tank. The switch is indeed rated for 600V, 30Amps.

That does it alright,
I remember putting the concatenation at the end like that, and using quotation marks... musta used 'em within the brackets... but thought I'd tried it like that as well. I'll be darned! Thanks guys.
Good morning all,
With this formula:
=TEXT(NOW(),"dddd, mmmm dd, yyyy, hh:mm")
I have an output resembling this:
Monday, October 03, 2005, 10:40
I would like it to look as such:
Monday, October 03, 2005, 10:40 hrs
I've tried countless combinations of quotation marks and concatentations...
I'm not an engineer either, but for those of you who are, doesn't it sound here like the normal operating load is too close to the full load current of this motor? What is the normal acceptable or "code book" percentage supposed to be? I would have thought that a motor should be loaded at no...
Hello all,
I've recently posted to a newsgroup, but was getting practical advice rather than theoretical information. Thought I'd check here see if someone has interest in promoting understanding for its own sake. What I posted is as follows:

When you say "by hand", I assume you were modifying the contents of the "disk.id" file in the install directory?
I don't remember much of the details, but I do remember I had to change the disk number in that file everytime the install prompted for the next disk. I'm...
