"There's your solution."
Yeah, I was just hoping I wasn't going to have to do it myself. Too optimistic a thought perhaps.
"Ugh. Double ugh. Do the people that make these decisions ever wonder what they will say when these bearings fail and they're defending themselves from the personal injury...
In most cases I do go to the manufacturer for correct models & yes, I am aware that S6205RS is a genuine bearing number. (You don't know what standard that would be part of do you? Haven't found that information either.)
These bearings however are definitely purchased from an unspecified...
As long as you import as new part you should be able to do that with a tickbox on the second page of the import dialogue box, without the need for a macro, but it does rely on layers actually having been used instead of just different colours.
Is that not working for you?
Does anyone know if there is a way to be able to choose bearings by OD, Bore & Thickness instead of by what the toolbox refers to as Size?
I'm currently creating models & manufacturing drawings of pre-existing products so the dimensions are the information I have. The bearing I needed today was...
Ok, for future reference, I didn't spot this before (perhaps due to the thread title, perhaps because it was 2011), but here is an answer to this problem.

I need to use letters as item numbers. I have no choice in the matter.
Is this possible without using overrides?
If not, can I link my balloons to the override value that is actually displayed in the BOM? Currently it will only show me the original numerical value.
I am not going to be happy...
Wow, can't quite believe we managed to miss that, thank you. Presumably we were looking for something more complicated.
Both of those things were (but no longer) very much the case & is the crux for the question.
More like the 10% of someone else's problems, but sure, why not.
I was...
Not one course that I have been on (specifically relating to use of software) has been worth spending money. Intuition & Google can solve 90% of all problems, presuming you know the actual words to google, and what is this forum for if not the last 10%?
Maybe if my previous company had had full...
One of the guys I work with has been trying to check a file into Vault from inventor that seems to be stalling on the dwf for the preview & not getting further than that. He want to turn off the feature so that the dwf isn't created. Is this a thing that is possible?
Google has given him no...
Right, it's not that it wasn't visible, so much as that I didn't previously know that that was what inventor called it, so I had to turn it off to find out what it was.
I was brought up with Catia, so I would call that the tree (just FYI for anyone else who doesn't know inventor terminology)...
So I've managed to accidentally add a Level of Detail to one of my assemblies. Not only do I not need it, but it is also exactly the same as the full assy.
How the hell do I get rid of it?
