Equal percent to Linear type valve]

Yes it is possible , with appropriate tuning. But pl. note that characterisation is through positioner cam is not the recommended practice particularly in the fast loops. Because the positioner in the valve is like loop within a loop.

    Control Valve Actuator Selection

Piston actuators have more thrust o/p comparing with spring & dia actrs for a given size. Force= Pressure*Area. More air pressure can be used for piston actuators since diaphragm has limitation on the max. pressure that can be used. For valve sizes 8" and higher, using piston actuators...

High Mach numbers at valve exit

Valve outlet velo 0.3 Mach is generally used. But nowadays industry accepts velocity till 0.7 Mach. There is a possiblity to have noise less than 85 dBA with mach less than 0.7 Mach. However, with noise atteunation trims, manufacturers restrict the allowable outlet velo up to 0.3 Mach or at the...

Flow Control Valve, Delta P calculation question

The general formula Q=CV* sqrt(dp/G ), from which you can calculate dp across the valve by using the cv value from the manufacturers Cv table.(control valve manufacturer list cv for % openings 10 to 100% open ) But manufacturer's table are only inherent characteristic. If you want dp with...

    Butterfly Control valve

This is the problem with high recovery valves like bfly, ball valves. when cavitation damage has its effect in the downstream of the valve. It is not recommended to keep the orifice plate at downstream (to avoid cavitation ,unless otherwise this is the only solution)when the valve is being used...
