    Analysis of existing billboards...

I am looking at ASCE 7-05 and also have 7-10. I still have to get into the new book to see if it is better. They have made some big changes to the wind sections in the new one.

    Analysis of existing billboards...

The bottom 12' of posts will get buried in native soil and compacted (hopefully!). No other foundation to be built. I will check moment at the base and see if it looks like the soil will hold. I don't have a soil report available, so will have to go with the NRCS website soil data and the...

    Analysis of existing billboards...

I have been asked to analyze two existing billboards which were disassembled. Now, the owner wants to put them back up and wants me to tell him they will be safe. They are to go end-to-end for a total sign area of about 12' x 40'. Each section is to be supported by a single pole, tapering...

New conc floor slab on existing outdoor slab fro metal bldg

Thanks, Ron, I understand that. That's why I am waiting for the mfr's calcs to check for uplift. The contractor is trying to forge ahead though, and I am just trying to get the general consensus as to whether I should go ahead and tell them to enlarge the footings now, before they place any...

New conc floor slab on existing outdoor slab fro metal bldg

We are putting up a 40x60 steel Mueller building on an existing outdoor slab 4"+ thick which was poured in the 1950s with no reinforcement. We are looking at doing a 24x24x24" footing at each of the six column feet with a rebar basket in it. The new slab will be 3000psi, 6" thick with #4 bars...

    septic tank sizing/flows

The local state enviro office is hassling us over the design flows for a small septic system we need at a local park. The bathroom will have 1 toilet/1 urinal/1 sink in the men's side ans 2 toilets/1 sink in the women's, plus a floor sink for the janitor. She (state) is asking for volume...

    US charge out rates survey

We are in southern NM, and those rates are about what we charge. One caveat though, there is so much development going on here, that engineering and surveying staff are in short supply. We are doing land development, surveying and municipal jobs as well as smaller typical consulting work...
