Hallo,
I have a rookie question concerning weld connection according to ASME, sec VIII, div 1.
The strength of connection elements is always based on half of the area.
fillet weld: pi/2*nozzleOD*weld leg*S
groove weld: pi/2*nozzleOD*t*S
nozzle wall shear: pi/2*mean nozzle diam.*tn*S
So why...
Hi, I have 2 questions concerning div 1 flanges.
I don´t really understand that overbolting equation.
Why is the overbolting only considered in the gasket seating condition, I understand that the bolt is tightend during the flange assembly, but during normal operation the bolt is still there...
Thanks for the answer TGS4
Would it be unwise to use a screw with a smaller maximum allowable stress. If so the screw would require a smaller torque and I wouldn't have overbolting.
May I ask if it's acceptable to use SA-307 to join flanges?
Hi, I am new on this site and on the pressure vessel area, so I apologize for any silly questions(and english mistakes).
I was trying to use some standard ring flanges(no hub, class 150) for my project, those flanges have the same dimensions as a slip-on flange from the ASME B16.5 but no hub...
would someone be so kind to give us a brief description of the three types, or point us to a picture, so that when someone mentions which type they think is best, we could identify it?
i assume the beam type is the two long, parallel rods where the skinny rod is a long cantilever that stays...
