So, I have now tried the favorites in NX9. Our whole team has switched over.
They favourite is acting that same way. This is what happens....
1) I open the desired command...then set all the things to the way I want it...then I create the favorite. In my case, I am interested in create...
So, I have to change the colour of many components in a sub-assembly. I have to do this because...well... its a long story and involves a gnashing of teeth...
So. I have an assembly (A) which has several sub-assemblies (B1 to B5), which each have several sub-assemblies...and so on.
How do I...

Actually, I tried to do something like that using a simple macro in a text editor. I would search for "p:\" and replace it with the appropriate drives....
It was failing on me and I did not have much time to investigate.

We do have standard drive letters, but there are not enough of them.
As far as engineering is concerned, we use a range of letters, but the shop uses drives we don't need. That is easy enough and we are very strict regarding their usage.

Excellent! I did just as you mentioned. I added the lines to that toolbar file and there it was! I was then able to access it and move to any other toolbar using the regular customization method.

The only solution I have found is to create a journal file, then a custom command button to call that journal file.
But there HAS to be a better way...
We are going to aggressively attack the issue of wasted icon clicking time.
We have done some benchmarks and we can clearly see that clicking on icons on a ribbon bar, menu bar or even right click menu is slowing us down drastically.

What I mean about "forgets" is that I created the shortcuts and they worked fine. Then, for no reason (and only a few minutes later) the short-cut no longer has the same options. That is, instead of "vector" distance...

Excellent! I tried it; it worked great...except that 8.5 "forgets" things! So, the dialogue favourites are forgotten. That is, the same options don't appear even though they WERE working just a few moments ago.

If you open the bookmark (via a text editor) you will see that the full path is given. Unfortunately, this path includes the drive letter, rather than the network path. For this reason, it does not work. (at least I think so...)

If you want to send a bookmark to a person whose computer's drives are mapped differently (even though they have access to the exact same files in the same location) the bookmark fails.
