Dear Colleagues,
I would like to consult with you regarding the following issue.
We use a mixture of hot brine and condensate as a heating agent in the preheater.
The water and condensate is mixed at the preheater inlet. The brine pressure at the mixing point is 10barg while the condensate...
Dear Colleagues,
Any recommendations ??
Could you please recommend the engineering book that can be used to calculate a falling film absorber?
Thanks,
Mike
Dear Colleagues,
Can you please recommend an engineering company which has a proven experience in the design of a Falling Film Absorber. A company location doesn't really matter.
The application is an absorption methanol vapor by lithium bromide solution.
Thanks,
Mike
Thank you All.
I found the 1st equation in the "Beggs-Brill Two--phase flow in pipes" book. Please see the attached. In the equation Vm is 2-ph mixture velocity.
For which applications the 1st and 2nd forms are applicable?
Thanks, Mike
Dear Colleagues,
I found in a literature the different form of the Froude No. equation: Fr= V^2/g*D, instead of the well-known form: Fr= V/SQRT(g*D).
At the same velocity the equations gave the different Froude numbers.
Which of the equations is more correct?
Thank you,
Mike
Hi,
We are designing a pilot batch distillation unit, which consists of a small 40L jacketed reboiler.
We are considering to install the electrical heating element below the bottom of the reboiler in a sealed jacket filled with a thermal oil.(the simplified sketch is attached). In order to...
Hello All,
I check a feasibilty to inject a non-condensable gas (mostly CO2)into a water pipeline in continuous mode. The goal is to attain the complete dissolution of CO2 in water and further injection of carbonated water (as a single phase)undeground.
Based on my estimation at the given...
Thank you Gentlemen.

I try to summarise my understanding. For the simple batch distillation (with an empty column and without reflux),the vapor temperature at the top of column always is close to the reboiler's(liquid ) temperature, assuming the heat-losses and pressure drop over...
jari001,
Thank you.
In our case the pressure gradient along the column is neglegible, since the column is a simple riser without any internals.
I am aware that the miscible n-pentane/oil mixture is non-ideal and deviates from the Raoult's law.
My question is whether based on the ideal VLE data...
Hello,
We try to model the separation of n-pentane from the syntetic seal oil/n-pentane miscible mixture by a simple batch distillation process (reboiler + riser+condenser) at the atmosheric pressure.
The n-pentane boiling temperature is 38 deg.C. and oil boiling temperature is about 270 deg.C...
I thank you all.
Kevin,
Assuming the thermal losses through the uphill section is 2 deg.C, the P2 (vapor pressure) can't be lower than 4.7 barg.
But on the other hand, the P2 is set by: the downstream re-injection pressure + two-phase fluid friction losses through the downward pipeline -...
Gentlemen,
Thank you for the useful recommendations (I gave you two stars).
Assuming, we will implement the control logic, as you suggested, including the pump's VFD control.
Based on your experience, How practical it is to keep the more than 2,000 m pipeline pressurized, without
hammering...
