I have to modify oil pick up for a BMW engine as I am changing from a rear sump to a front sump set up. The oil pickup as a strainer which is shrouded arrangement with a small entry hole for oil. See pic.
Is there any advantage/disadvantage to this design compared to an open strainer like the...
What's the basic principle regarding the relative size of coolant inlets and outlets? Smaller outlets to maintain pressure in the engine?
Also is there any advantage in fitting outlet(s) in the head near cylinders known to run hotter and plumbing them to the return lines to the radiator to...
I don't use them as a matter of course, but I have been given a little microcontroller to wire up with a terminal block. I suppose its a case of rubber mount, tighten and check the resistance and screw regularly, and allow a little extra length in the harness to cut off and clean up the scraggly...
There's plenty advice about making tight electrical crimp connections but I do not recall seeing anything about screw terminal block connectors. I have seen a lot of mashed up bits of copper wire and the odd wire pin connectors making these connections. What's the best way of sticking a bit of...
I am wondering about shock valving (specifically rebuildable Bilsteins) and travel. I understand thatshocks are speed sensitive devices. Does this mean say a shock with 5" travel to one with 10", with the same valving would act the same for a given shock velocity irrespective of displacement?
Please educate me about double row angular contact (DAC) ball bearing hubs versus tapered roller (TR) bearing hubs. I am considering retrofittng a strut and TR hub combo from a previous model to a race car with DAC hubs. At first glance critical measurements seem OK, hub offset, etc
I was under...
