Thanks for the reply Rob. I was thinking I could create node sets for the CG's and then use a history output request to obtain the necessary data.
In terms of editing the inp. file to create new sets, is it possible to identify the node-of-interest with x-y-z coordinates or does is it have to...
Hi all,
I would like to know if it is possible to plot x-y-z displacement for one coordinate of a 3D body (e.g. centroid). If yes, can the coordinate be inputted instead of visually selected?
Thanks for any help,
max
Thanks for the suggestions ccheric. I've already tried most of them out, still get the "too many attempts..." error.
Quick question. When using the verify mesh tool (Mesh > Verify) are the default values good enough or should I change them? For instance, is an aspect ratio of 10 a good error...
Thanks for the suggestions gwolf2 and corus.
I've reduced the complexity of my model as much as I could. It still won't finish running. Stuck on the "too many increments..." error.
Would either of you be willing to take a quick look at the model and perhaps, point out the problem areas...
I forgot to mention that I have springs between the cortical bones to represent the ligaments. From what I've read in other threads, if I have springs connecting the bones that will contact then I do not need to define contact interactions for them?
Hi All,
I am having some trouble getting a converged solution for my hand/wrist model.
Here are some details of the model:
1) The model has 58 parts total: 29 for trabecular bone of the hand/wrist and 29 for cortical.
2) The parts representing trabecular bone are constrained to their...
Abaqus does not allow me to create Independent instances on the orphan meshes I've imported. So I have 29 Dependent instances. It says in the user manual I should be able to mesh the Dependent instances; however, when I do try to abaqus returns 'Dependent part instances cannot be edited or...
Hi all,
I have 29 orphan parts that I've imported from Mimics (.inp files). I'd like to know how to mesh these parts using the Mesh module. When I try to use 'Mesh -> Part' it says an orphan part can only be modified with the 'Edit Mesh Toolkit'. Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks,
Max
Hi all,
I'm developing a FE model of the human hand and wrist. using the Truegrid meshing software right now to mesh the individual bone surfaces. Will then use ABAQUS for analysis.
I'm having difficulty creating meshes with separate layers for the cortical and cancellous bone layers. If...
Hi,
I have 29 orphan meshes that each represent a bone in the hand , wrist and forearm. I'm using the Edit Mesh Toolset to change the triangular shell meshes to solid tetrahedral ones. However, I'd like to resize the orphan meshes before I do the conversion. Reading through the ABAQUS user...
Hi all,
I currently have 29 ABAQUS input files, each one representing a bone in the human hand, wrist or arm. I imported them into ABAQUS today and noticed that I wasn't able to integrate them all onto one global coordinate system, such that I can view my complete model instead of each part...
