    Binding perlite with fire resistant material

    I am trying to bind exfoliated mica (perlite) to create a lightweight panel rthat will retain the perlite properties. Have tried mixing Sodium silicate and oven baking but the resultant "brick" is still very weak and crumbs easily - any suggestions??
