My first three questions were:
1. What's I?
2. What's the cross-section shape?
3. What's the weight of the material?
Then I realized that #1 and #2 don't matter because if "I" was large enough to keep it from buckling the section would be so thin that it would crush. So the center hinge...
Does Anyone know if LiDAR data can be used in AutoCAD? SWFWMD (the southwest florida water management district) has made LiDAR data available for free if you supply them a hard drive. Is there reference material available on how to use it?

Where have I been? I started working at my current company in 2003 and have been using 2000i ever since. I'm amazed that they would eliminate such a useful feature. I guess I'll keep 2000i to use as an attachment utility...

Does anyone know how to insert an image in ACADLT 2008? This feature seems to have been dropped from the program. I insert images for the following uses:
1) For the reasons we used to use stickyback;
2) scan a portion of a road map for use as a location map;

Has anyone used BricsCAD particularly v7? Our company is thinking of switching because we are still on ACAD 2000i and the upgrade cost for all of us to move to ACAD 2008 is more than the owner wants to spend.

As long as the installation hasn't changed any of the original autocad commands that are accessed by the original menus I don't see a problem with it. After the solidworks installation did it set up another profile? The only way around that I can think of if it just modified the default...
I think the solution is simpler than everyone is making it out to be. I had a problem with WaterCAD changing all of the menus. When I started WaterCAD the first time all of the menus changed. After that every time I opened just AutoCAD I still had all of the WaterCAD menus.

I installed and ran ACAD2006 last night. The installation went smoothly after turning off Firewall and Anti-Virus. The program ran fine after I set the compatability to XP-SP2 and Run as an Administrator for both the first tab and for all users.

I'm not sure about the 2006 versions. I'll try and load ACAD 2006 tonight. You must turn off all firewall and anti-virus products. Once the product is installed you then go to the first post on this thread and follow the procedure outlined.
However, just because the program is only a couple...
Go to:
C:\Program Files\AutoCAD LT 2007
sort your directory by "Type"
and it should be at the top of the list under the folders.
This is of course after you install the program.

I actually went a step farther. I loaded Civil 3D as a demo version and am running it with no issues. I'm only using the Autocad profile as I haven't had time to check out the features of Civil 3D. I'm sure that some of the processor intensive tasks will bog down on my machine. I'm not doing...
So far I have been able to eliminate the error message about a program not working by going into the properties of the .exe file and using the compatability mode. In the case of some haestad methods software I have had to run in Windows '98 compatability.

So I bought a new computer on Sunday. It came with Windows Vista. The very first thing I did was load ACADLT2007.
Here is what happened:
Install ACAD....Try to start program....Program won't run
un-install...
I do a copy from Excel and a paste in AutoCAD. Then re-size it to fit. The spreadsheet becomes an object in Autocad and if you want to edit it you just double-click on it in AutoCAD. Changes will not be saved to the original spreadsheet and you don't have to include the original spreadsheet...
