Please help me on advise
What critical factors / variables to be considered while welding duplex SS pipes, the environment is marine and there is no fully equipped welding shop...
As a quick research it was advised - "heat input and interpass temperature must be controlled during welding"...
What are pros and cons using Selenium for tangential radiography of NPS 16 " pipes typical thickness 9-12 mm range to find an internal or external corrosion () ?
Since selenium has a lower penetration ability ~ 25mm and the beam may travel along the chord inside the thickness which may have a...
It has external corrosion build-up 3-4 cm with area of 10 cm x 10 cm .... pipe can not be isolated can not be shut down .... and the profile is irregular
industrial, 12" , 10 bar , flammable liquid....
What kind of repair might be an option ? Welded sleeves ? or boxlike enclosure ?
What is more common ?
Cut / replace does not applicable
Dear All,
If a live piping is having localized external corrosion that may be consuming the most thickness of the wall and the line cannot be isolated what would you advise?
Clamp could not be installed due to irregular profile.
Thank you very much
Dear All,
I have a following question:
The seamless pipe thickness tolerance form mill production is 12.5%
The under tolerance of welded piping is 0.01".
Could you tell me please if there are such tolerances for plates - plates that are rolled within manufacturer factory.
I want a plate with...
Dear forum,
Could you please advise me with the following:
Piping is insulated and covered with lagging (metallic lagging)... as shown on the picture....
What materials normally is that ? Is it galvanized SS sheets ? Might it be some other metallic material ? And what is thickness of it...
Hi EdStainless ... i would like to have a basic understanding in the fields that I directly or indirectly encounter.
Somebody tells me we need whatever hours to shoot this and i would like to learn why and how....
I also do remember your very educative responses to my posts / questions...
Dear Forum,
Please help me to find an explicit formula to calculate the time for RT exposure (NDT of piping).
I want to build that formula in excel. There is a tool for example "RT toolkit" for android, however i want an explicit formula and table of parameters that go in that formula -...
Dear David,
Thank you for your response the welding detail provided in the attached snippet (in the first post) and full RT can warrant using E=1.0?
The full RT was done on the weld ... however the weld is single V groove but having "sealing run ground" weld on the other side (as i understood...
OK Got it Thanks Snickster ... So it is V butt as welded (one one side) and sealing run ground (another side)...
The second question that still confuses me what weld joint efficiency should be used from Table Table UW 12 ?
This to calculate pressure shell wall thickness (having in mind weld...
Dear Forum,
What does the welding detail mean in attached file ?
Weld on arrow side ? But what are circle and arch like markings adjacent to "V" ?
And what weld joint efficiency it would need E=0.9 from ASME VIII Div 1 - Table UW 12 ?
Design pressure is 14 bar....
Even if it is a typo 6 " also would not have that thickness...
Suppose it is a "gun barrel" or "heavy bore" piping - is there some kind of standard for such thick "things" ?
Dear forum,
There is a vessel constructed to an ASMVE VII div 1 code (At least as datasheet says).
Vessel nozzle spec says: 4", wall thickness 1.305"
But, in schedule table there is no 4" pipe having thickness 1.305".
Maximum thickness for 4" pipe is 0.674" = 17.12mm (XXS).
Having done...
