    Space Elevator

This post was not originally created by me, however ... ... I guess they are not making any comments because the subject is so complex that they just did not fully understand :) or because they are occupied, swotting to make all the necessary calculations you did :)

Hi swearingen, thanks for sharing your opinion. You have mentioned "I say that it may be possible, given serious advances in material science". What are those for example ? Have a nice weekend, Maleck

    Self-diffusion coefficients (CHROMIUM ? NIOBIUM ?)

Tnank you very much METENGR...very nice hearing from you! I have this book (Frost H. J., Ashby M. F., Deformation Mechanism Maps (Pergamon Press, Oxford, 1982) but they do not show the self-diffusion coefficient of chromium into chromium and that of niobium into niobium. This is what I am really...

What is a grain? (metallurgical definition)

I am trying to elliminate skiwed points in a EBSD grain size measurement analysis. Before eliminating those, I have to define what is a grain. I know that a grain is "a three dimensional crystalline volume within a specimen that differs in crystallographic orientation from its surroundings". A...

CO2 fragilizes steel used in beverage bottles ?

Thanks arunmrao, interesting point you've raised but I was thinking about beers or gaseous beverages that are stored at ambient temperature. What is then, in your point of view, the relationship between CO2 with the ductile-brittle temperature? Thanks for giving me any more clues. Maleck
