Of course that would be my preference. I started running into resistance in the plants to me doing this as a service provider over 20 years ago. In these cases the customer is installing the sensors themselves and simply refuse to do that anymore.

YungPlantEng,
Thanks for sharing your experience. I appreciate your input.
A Belzona engineer got back with me today following my request for help from them. He said that Belzona had no knowledge of testing done to verify that it would pass high frequencies adequately. He knew Belzona had done...
Tmoose,
Great discussion going on in that last link at the bottom of your post. Infact I am not certain, but I think the gentleman with the longest most detailed post about shipboard applications is maybe working on a program I used to be involved with at it's inception, which he says was in...
Hi Tugboat and Tmoose,
Great input. Here's the thing. The application is monitoring steel mill roll stand gearboxes with 250 mVolt/G industrial accelerometers. Not a great application for bee's wax, but I have used this method with more dainty sized accelerometers in temporary mounting...
Thanks Greg. I may have to do that. It will be a couple of months before I can do this for a couple of reasons, so I am still hoping to hear from someone who has a source for info or experience with it. I have a question into the accelerometer manufacturer and waiting for a response from them...
Does anyone on this forum know of any accelerometer manufacturers that have tested Belzona 1111 for installation of mounting pucks used for installation of accelerometers. Or, perhaps any other source for this kind of information. I want to make sure the high frequency performance of the sensor...
Greg is absolutely correct about the phase relationships of accel,, vel., and displacement.
Phase lag is dependent on the entire instrumentation system not just the sensor used. In the days when I used analog instrumentation and strobe lights for balancing, if you had several identical...
Dan,
I commented on your other post about not understanding the scope of your measurement task. Do you have any software for post processing stored/digitized data?
I have been working with some battery powered, triaxial MEMS accelerometers. They are good from DC through about 80 Hz. They...
Hi Tmoose,
Are you dealing with a speed that varies from 600 down to 10 RPM and you need to know the phase relationships over the entire range? Or, is it a fixed speed machine and that is the frequency range of interest? If the latter is true do you have a single dominant frequency in that...
Hi guys,
Just a little refresher. Most balancing documents refer to the "30-30" rule. This means that by adding the trial weight you hope to achieve either a 30 degree change in phase angle, OR a 30% change in the 1X RPM amplitude. Having one of these numbers change at least this much tends...
It really depends on which Bently equipment is being used. If he is using Adre then he will be able to collect data simultaneously from multiple sensors, as described by DLiteE30. If he is using the Snapshot data collector from Bently he may have less capability than the CSI 2120. Also, if...
Strong and Tmoose are right. There really isn't too much anyone here can do to recommend anything with out knowing what frequency the dominant vibration is . Beyond that it may require relative vibration phase readings to diagnose further once the frequency is known.

I have used all the methods discussed. The B&K Laser Doppler device is something they used to rent out from their facility in Atlanta and I rented it from there a few years ago, but I do not know if they still will rent them. They are quite expensive to purchase, but the setup doesn't get any...
