abaqus question from an ansys user

Oh citizens of Abaqus, I come in peace from the kingdom of Ansys, seeking knowledge of your kingdom's great code. Seriously, though, I have a question about Abaqus hourglass control. I'm not an Abaqus user, but I've been given a *.inp file and asked to interpret some things. From the research...

C3D8R element question from an ANSYS user

I have occasion to be involved in some work with a code used by another firm. They referred to the C3D8R element, but in the context of discussing their use of Solidworks Simulation. As I understand it, though, the C3D8R element is an ABAQUS reduced-integration element. Is SS just running an...

    NASTRAN/FEA GUIDELINES FOR AEROSTRUCTURES?

Crackman: No problem. I'm sure you're busy as all of the aero biz is these days (thank God for that). Better late than never, and thanks for the clarification. Take care.

    NASTRAN/FEA GUIDELINES FOR AEROSTRUCTURES?

Andries: I hope you don't feel that I'm unresponsive, but I've posted a few responses in the last few days that haven't made it to the list; I don't know why. Hopefully this post will get up there, so that I can say thank you since I did get the package.

HOW TO GET DOD/NASA ADVANCED COMPOSITES DESIGN GUIDE???

prost: It's funny you mention this. Just today I got word of this public/private thing at work. The woman there who gets me papers and journal articles says we have an account, so it sounds like we should be able to get it. I'm told it's 3000 pages total. Do you know if they have a pdf...

    NASTRAN/FEA GUIDELINES FOR AEROSTRUCTURES?

prost: Thanks for the link, but it came up dry. It takes me to a German abebooks site with other NATO stuff except what I'm looking for. I emailed NATO yesterday; let's see what they have to say. Thanks again.

HOW TO GET DOD/NASA ADVANCED COMPOSITES DESIGN GUIDE???

youngturk: Yes, Rockwell prepared the document some years ago under contract. As far as I can tell, a recent complete edition is the 4 volume set of 1983. I am still looking for a source to obtain the document. The sp 8108 is not it, but thanks a lot--that's one for my archives.

    NASTRAN/FEA GUIDELINES FOR AEROSTRUCTURES?

Crackman: Do you know how I can get a readable copy of "Practical Application of FEA to Aircraft Structural Design, AGARD-LS-147, France, 1986?" PDF is best of course, but a readable hardcopy works too. I was able to obtain a hardcopy only through DTIC, and much of it is unreadable due to...

HOW TO GET DOD/NASA ADVANCED COMPOSITES DESIGN GUIDE???

Can anyone help me find the DoD/NASA Advanced Composites Design Guide? It is a four volume set originally prepared by Rockwell International for one of the US Air Force; I believe the most recent set (or one of the more recent sets) was published in 1983. I've googled with no luck at all. The...

    NASTRAN/FEA GUIDELINES FOR AEROSTRUCTURES?

crackman Thanks for the references, and a star for you (hope it got there by now); I'm going to try and track them all down. As for the Boeing document, are you referring to D6-25400-006, "Finite Element Modeling Guidelines for Aircraft Structural Analysis?" I've seen references to it in...
