For components that do not have meaningful names we start .bat file with dir command that writes all files with paths from subdirectories into one logfile and our custom search program is able to quickly find file and open them by using this logfile.
I have had one for 3 years and I love it. It allows manipulating the model as it were in you hand. Its big advantage is that it works during EVERY command. For example while entering dimension value, you might have a wish to zoom or pan to some place else and the model is moving already.

A wild gess: if macPT was told that there was crap in graphic portion of file then maybe unfrag and ecosqeeze would help also by removing all graphic stuff?
The need for resizing the window would be when saving i.e. jpg picures because they will be of exact SW window size. But in that case you could resize the model window only, not the application.
Addition to Shaggy18VW: You should try yourself how the link option works on updated drawings and if you like this behaviour. My excel asked for update but Word did it silently. Then open picture toolbar and use crop tool (zig-zag icon) to crop drawing view to wished size.
