post heating of weld for 9 Cr material

stanweld, sorry for late response. Design code is B31.3 & yes, i will be doing PWHT also at 740 deg C for 3 Hrs. job thickness is 11.13 mm. one of the consultant advised me that you will need to do PWHT of whole unit at a time within 72 hours from weld completion & if you delay the PWHT...

post heating of weld for 9 Cr material

I have to fabricate 20 identical tags in which a single spool piece of 4.2 meter long is having 16[1.5" sch160] nozzles welded on a 4" sch120 pipe [A335 P9] material. My weld procedure calls for post heating at 300 deg C for min 1 Hr. I will weld 4 nozzles at a time. what is the best method...

    THICKNESS RANGE-ASME SEC 8 DIV 1 & ASME B 31.3 & ASME SEC IX

Kiwi so if design code here is B31.3 & material requires impact test then will the base metal range will be t/2 to t+6 mm(per B31.3) i.e. 4 mm to 14 mm & not 8 to 16mm per sec IX.?

    B31.1 design code

I am not that much familier with 31.1 design code. My design temp is 750 F and design pressure is 4.1 bar. line size is 10 inch and only 1.5" branch connection at 45 deg is to be provided. i have chosen A 106 Gr B for pipe and A105 for nozzle material.there are no circumferential or...

    plain washer

what is the use of plain washer in bolting joint. I usually see all the filter vessels coming from our vendors are having plain washer at both sides of studs. In recent supply i found them missing. Is it mandetory to have washers at bolted joints .specifically vessels per ASME sec VIII DIV I code.

    radioactive contamination

what is the acceptable level of radioactive contamination in A182 304 in "mR". Customer spec calls that radioactive contamination should not be there. When we asked about the same customer said that you suggest us & we will confirm whether it is acceptable or not from there customer. What is...

    ferrite number

I have a weld procedure for austenitic steel with solution annealing. now there is a requirement of ferrite Number of weld metal. Can I weld a test sample only to conduct Ferrite Number test on weld metal using the same consumable brand as that was used for PQR and add as a addenda to PQR?

test sample for tensile test speciment

I had a previously qualified PQR in which i used 12 mm thick plate for qualification.I used the same PQR for one project but same was rejected by TPI. The reason behind the rejection was that the two mechanical tensile sample were having the thickness as 10.7 mm and 11.1 mm in test report...

    temp for subsize specimen

I have welded two different test coupon of SA 516 GR60 TO SA 516 GR70 of 5.8 mm & 8 mm for PQR.both PQR samples requires impact test at -46 deg C per 31.3. For 5.8 mm thk Coupon lab has prepared sample of 5mm for PM & 3.3 mm for weld & HAZ. Similarly for 8 mm coupon lab has prepared 7.5 mm for...

    preheat temp

I had a customer spec which states that min preheat temp for material having tensile above 485 Mpa shall be 100 C. My material is LTCS A350 LF2 & A333 Gr 6. I have a previously qualified PQR in which preheat temp was 80 C. I submitted the same for approval & it got rejected only because preheat...

    impact test 31.3

thread292-232721 what will be the final conclusion for above thread w.r.t. T limit Will it be 0.25"- 0.75" per 31.3? again can i use the same PQR to weld 0.5" thick 316 plate material or am i violating the supplementory essential variabe here for filler classification. i alway get confuse as...
