I work with a number of firms that have a bad habit of renaming files or creating new folders as the design proceeds. This creates issues with ref files. I always used CADD with the standard that "file names remain the same" thruout the life of the project. This especially applies to xref's. I...
We have multiple users for a large project. Microstation V8. When different users open up cut sheet files we are finding that the reference file's scales are different than original. We save settings and have the save settings for the reference file on as well. Many times we also need to redo a...
This may sound "old fashioned", but I too have some problems with PDF's in Microstation, sometimes the fonts are not the same in addition to line weights being out of wack.
I typically will plot out a fullsize of what I need as a PDF and then scan it as a PDF file. This way, I always have a copy...
Is it just me, or is it true that you CANNOT attach an image file with LT at all. I just downloaded ACAD LT 2006 for demo (I use ACAD 2005 at work) and I found that I cannot attach an image file. Any shortcuts here from anyone?
OK, I admint I'm stumped. The property window seems to have a mind of its own! I set units to 1 decimal place, dimensions to 1 decimal place. I turn on the properties window. I click on a polyline (to get the area) I get a Square inch, and Square feet that has 3 decimal places!
Anyone out there...
I need to extract the area of closed polylines AND extract text strings that are contained within the polyline for linkage or output to an excel spreadsheet. Is VBA the way to go here? Does VBA work with ACAD LT? Any other ideas? Thank you in advance for your advice.
Sometimes, unknown to the user, there are numerous blocks, etc that are part of the drawing. Try using "PURGE" and delete out everything in the blocks area. When you save the drawing again, the overall file size will be much SMALLER. Give it a shot!
I need to place a hyphen within the dimension text,
for example: 1 1/2" would be displayed as 1-1/2". I cannot find how to do this within the dimension parameters. Any thoughts?
Go to Dimension Style/Modify/Primary Units. In this window you can add a prefix or suffix to the actual dimension. Remember to save it and set current.
If you use a date stamp, then acad will create a plot.log file that contains the ongoing date stamp info. If you get too many plot.log files, simply use the filefind utility in Windows to find all plot.log and delete them all at once.
If you go to:
http://www3.autodesk.com/gost/files/3988423_AutoCAD_2005_Q_A.pdf
you'll find that ACAD only supports Win XP, XP for Tablet PC, or 2000. Sorry.
My suggestion is to "know your clients". I run a small 3 person CADD services firm. We invoice certain clients monthly, other "lump sum" projects we invoice at the end.
YOU MUST MANAGE YOUR CASH FLOW. As much as we are engineers, CADD professionals, etc, we must run our business as a business...
