    Deflection of plastic pipe

I have not seen a defection limit in any pipping code, just stress limits. Has DVS just made this up to be conservative?

Axial pipe load - how is this transferred to the pad foundation

Nice work where there are no earthquakes to design for.

Skillet blind thickness for an air test

There should be a formula in the piping code for blinds/spades.

    Anchor Block Sizing Factor?

Is the PE pipe welded or sliding joints? If welded blocks are not required.

750 AUD per year for Engineer Australia membership. Is it a joke?

750 AUD per year for Engineer Australia membership. Is it a joke?

NZ was going to copy OZ and require the registration of all "engineers" but now certification will only be required for certain work. We will still have CPeng if you want it even if working in field with no statutory requirement. In OZ what is the definition of "engineer" and does this catch...

    Reducing bushing threaded

I think you answer the question and vessel finishes at the 3" thread. The question now is the reducing bushing a valid piping component?

ASME Section VIII Div.1 formed head straight flange (skirt) design for external loads

A bit OT, but I have seen vessel designers get caught out with commercial software because the skirt design does not include the loads from external piping attached to the vessel. e.g EQ calculation only uses the weight of the vessel and does no add the EQ loads from attached piping. We head...

Cooling Tower Blow Down Water Pipe Material

We do need more context. But seen buried HDPE in this duty.

ID Overlap between the gasket and the raised face flange

The larger diameter gasket is easier to center on the flange by resting it on the studs.

    Nozzle load calculation

Yes do allow for EQ, unless you are allowed to have the EQ rip the nozzles off the vessel. Good advice from GDD on the design process. Even plastic piping codes like ISO 14692 have allowance for occasional loads. You have not said what your vessel code is?

Ring Type Flange from Rolled Strip

Option 1 is where you would get a delamination when you cut a flange (donut) from a plate without rolling. You are allowed in the flange code to make flanges this way but not with hubs. Operating stress in a flange is from bending around the gasket from bolting load. Option 2 puts the...

How to properly analyze a flange at a boiler in stress analysis?

What programme are you using for the stress analysis? Most have model elements for vessel nozzles. Stiffness is calculated from the vessel diameter and thickness. 1/16” movement rule of thumb could be way off and non-conservative. Do include the thermal movement of the nozzle away for the...

    Reducer - FEA analysis

If you making a B16.9 reducer then clause 2.2.1 applies. This means FEA plus testing or just a proof test.
