Thanks DRC1: The excavation is very wet, and he mentioned that is one of the reasons he wanted to do it. If there are no fines in 3/4" stone, where is the fine migration coming from? The earth adjacent to the trench? Why doesn't clean stone need to be compacted to a proctor?
The contractor has clarified his request was to use a # 4 stone in lieu of the 304 limestone called out for backfill in paved areas. He says that although # 4 stone is more costly than the 304 but they are of the opinion that with # 4 stone you don't run the risk of settlement issues which...
I have a contractor asking if he can place a sanitary sewer, backfill w/ 57 stone to a foot over the pipe, then backfill the rest with 4-saying he wouldn't need to compact this. It is in a future parking lot (1-2 years out). Does anyone have experience in this area?
I am using this version and (re)learning the software. I have 4 XS with Q=1330 cfs through a bridge. It has created the BU and BD and I am getting a warning that says:
For the final momentum answer at the bridge, the upstream energy was computed lower than the downstream energy. This is not...
I have a contraction joint detail with 18" dowel bar (in basket) centered about a T/4 deep sawed joint. The welded wire fabric is shown ending 12" from each side of the joint. This produces a 3" gap with no reinforcing, since the dowel bar is only 9" on either side of the joint. Should the...
Large automaker plant expansion--continual semi traffic. Owner wants concrete repair whether ashpalt or concrete surrounding. Dowel only if connecting to concrete.
One of my clients has asked for a detail that shows trench repair with concrete reinforced with #10 mesh with 6"x6" openings tied into the existing concrete by dowels. Any thoughts or sources on this?
Thanks, guys. I did find one that is flush. But it wasn't FM approved. So, I rerouted a little, so that I could group 3 together. Then put bollards around the group.
Thanks, guys-yes, the existing lateral penetrated an existing mainline manhole. A new penetration was proposed because it was originally installed incorrectly (trying to make "it" flow uphill). So, a new inside drop was proposed ~2' lower in the manhole. The standard drawing for a service...
I've rerouted an existing fire loop around a new building on a manufacturing plant site. The owner wants a PIV at every valve location. These are surrounded by 4 bollards. The 2 valves I need to make the connection to existing fire main are in very awkward locations to have an above ground...
Do you mean to measure various parts on a drawing with a scale? Usually I insert the record drawings that have been scanned to TIFF into Autocadd, then scale it up to 1:1 using the identified drawing scale. It is not very accurate and depends on the resolution of the TIFF.
