According to your replies and discussion, I will forward the tables and references to vendor for their own review.
That was not the reply I was expecting.
Hi all,
I have vendor PQR's and WPS's for review . The construction code is ASME Sec 8 Div 1. In one impact tested PQR, thickness of the plate is 8 mm and the thickness range of the WPS prepared from this PQR is 8mm-16mm.But as I remember, regarding ASME B31.3 if impact tested, the...
Donskie,
Butterfly valves are very-cost effective compared to alternate valve choices, offers high cycle life but actually they are not suitable enough for high pressure steam services. This is the very common disadvantage of these valve types.
I cant tell you the exact type without knowing...
I checked & got it. I will prepare a new WPS based upon the same impact tested PQR. As far as I understand, regarding my question, per Sec IX impact testing is not my concern about preheating. The minimum temp will be 25 C( QW-406.1 & 406.4).
Guys, you re really appreciated for your helps.
Cheers
Thanks for you reply Duwe6,
I checked the PQR which is impact tested , per our pWPS used in PQR, also the preheat temp. is specified 80 C. Can I prepare a new WPS / revise without pre-heat by using this PQR?
Hi all,
There is ongoing welding in our pipe shop. Approx.the ambient temperature is 24 C outside and much more inside the shop. The thickness of the pipe is 32mm. Per ASME SEC IX (Table 303.1.1) the recommended temp is 80 C, but if the ambient temp is below 0 C, recommendations become...
Not permitted. For structural we are following AWS procedures. As i understood, welders and PQRs shall be qualified as per AWS procedures. ASME Section IX doesnt work , right?
Thanks for your kind response
Dear All,
We have a WPS which is qualified for P1 Group 1&2 to P1 Group 1&2. A333 Gr6 to A350 LF2. PQR is impact tested. Now we have to weld P355 NL1 material on a stack ( S355 NL ). But these materials are unassigned as per ASME Section IX. I searched the web and found out that both materials...
Yes, PQR is impact tested thats why I m also gonna need Group number.
Actually now the main question comes out ; if one material is not specified in ASME , how can I qualify that material with a impact tested PQR ?
