Dear All,
I am trying tp simulate a rubber tube inside an inside a steel pipe.
the rubber tube has been defined using S4R elements and the steel pipe has been defined using analytical rigid surface.
However , i am gettng overclosure error for the contact defination.
here is what all I tried...
Dear All ,
I want to a make an axi symmetric model. ( No not an tyre) (I want to model thw dust cover that we have on suspensions)
FOr this I am thinking of using axisymmetric elements such as CGAX4R. Now I will have unaxial loading later.
So I would like to have your advice if I should go...

maybe you start with a even smaller time increment and have decrease the minimum increment say
1e-10, 1.0, 1.00E-20, ,
or 1e-20, 1.0, 1.00e-25, ,
it worked once for me with a very small loading size.
Dear Blas,
Thank you for answering my question.
SO if my understanding is correct then considering residual vectors means cosidering static flexiblity.
Can you please explain what is meant by truncated modes and static flexiblity ?
Also if I use NxNastran versions before 9.0 (ie Version...
Dear All,
I would like to perform Craign Bampton reduction using Abaqus.
Can anybody provide any leads on this?
Thank you in advance...!!

can someone please answer this.
even i have the same doubt
what is the difference between mode shapes before and after augmentation of residual vectors?
and most importantly what do we mean by residual vectors..?
thank you in advance..!!

I am trying to run a SOL103 in NxNastran v 8.1.
In my model there is are Surface cards (BSURFS)
I have just mentioned BSURFS.
Now SOL103 is running error free but the parts on which i defined surfaces are not acting like surfaces.
I mean in the modal shapes i see them bend independent of...
Dear Mr Blas,
Thank you very much for your help.
I was reading the NxNastran Manual.
I was unable to understand the difference between Direct Complex Eigen Values(SOL107), Direct Frequency Response (SOL108), direct...
Dear Blas,
If its not too much for you then can you please do me a favour.
Can you please suggest which SOL will be best for obtaining both the natural modes and stress values with a rotating force. I
I tried reading the NASTRAN manual but i was unable to decide the best one.
thanks a lot...
Dear Blas,
I would like to repeat if i understood clearly.
Kindly correct me if i am wrong.
1. Applying Rotating force (RFORCE) will not cause any change in the natural modes of the crankshaft.
2. When we run SOL103 no stresses will be calculated. (Since I will use the op2 generated for...
Dear Mr Blas,
Thank you for the response.
I checked your blog just now, but unfortunately the posts are in a different language.
however your reply here was very helpful.
My doubts are still not cleared. :(
I am simulating a crankshaft to which I want to propose some desigbn changes.
