    Aggregate Compaction?

Thanks for all. cvg, So, to increase the compaction from 95% spd to 98% spd usually just need one more pass by the roller right? I will ask them about that. I think I need ask some nother contrators for the cost as well. muuddfun, sorry for the misunderstanding?that 200mm is the thickness...

    Aggregate Compaction?

Hi Muuddfun, Thank you for your reply. I couldn’t find why they spec. 98% originally and yes, that is a standard proctor density. The crushed gravel and pit-run defines as below Metric (mm) US Percent Passing 20.000 3/4" 100 16.000 5/8” 84-94...

    Aggregate Compaction?

Hi, I hope someone can help me out of this. I have an industry site here. Originally? it was spec. as 100mm crushed gravel and 200mm pit-run with 98% SPD compaction. Then the contractor told me if I can reduce 98% SPD to 95% SPD, the compaction cost can drop 40%. So, any thought of that or any...

    sedimentation pond issues

thanks jthompson and toones. jthompson I think liner is a typical standard in industry . for residential we do not need a liner. Correct me if I am wrong. toones We do not have a geotechnical engineer in our firm. But since that's not sounds good. I will certainly ask a geotechnical engineer's...

    sedimentation pond issues

Thanks PELS and cvg. Any body knows compact rate and lift for the clay liner? I want go 96%S.P.D. and every 6" lift, is that OK?

Thanks for reply, PELS I am planning to do a ramp for sediment clean up(15% for the ramp). backhole or loader can use that ramp reach the bottom of the pond then do the digging. Is that OK?

    sedimentation pond issues

Thanks, msucog I am looking at some documents are said 3:1 is recommend for clay liner. I am not sure why 3:1. I do have experience do 2:1 slope excavation for clay(road, not pond). That works very well. What's your suggestion or experience? Unfortunately, in our form, nobody has that...

    sedimentation pond issues

thanks,msquared48 One thing that I didn't mention is, that's a coal mine site, the client did a lot excavation jobs. If he said 1:1 slope is OK, then he should did that before.

Build a road in the narrow site

Thanks Zambo, It's a minor rail. And of cause we can bring the material in, as you said I do need a drain at the base of the embankment, that cause the base of the embankment goes to deeper and deeper, at the end of road, the base will be 4m deeper than the road, can backhole reaches that 4m...

Build a road in the narrow site

Thanks for all! The issue is that concrete wall is for holding the tank farm and it’s about 2m height. The client wants to build a road right against the wall with the same height. My thinking is to build the road, the construction contractor should use a dozer start with the rail side to...
