yes grigson and juggler1 are both me. (in and out of work)
So anyway, i did have an RCR filter just before the wires went into the meter....ie two series resistors (one in each line) and the shunt cap of 3uF.
SO that was filtering the ripple out.
As IR stuff said, its hopelessly inaccurate
