Westinghouse UTT On Load Tap Changer Failures

As a customer: Do I need a Load Tap Changer? What happens to my site if I do not have a LTC?

Measuring Rotor Current In Wound Rotor Motor

The current one wants to measure has varying frequency. At start the frequency will be 60hz. At running speed the frequency will be slip frequency. That is why we suggested shunts and DC amp meters.

Measuring Rotor Current In Wound Rotor Motor

I have used DC shunts in the three rotor leads at the slip tank. The mV drop across these shunts, through rated voltage isolation amps, looked at currents with an ocilliscope. I have always wanted to rectify the volatge output and compare the three signals for an unbalance. I never did. I...

Dynamometer in thinking stage- VFD or DC drive

We have a motor test stand. It has an Eddy Current brake as the load. This rascal has done great for 15 years. It can test motors up to 150KW, 480volts all day and 500 KW with careful watching. The idea is to replace the brake with a DRIVE to put energy back into the system instead of making...

Refurbish 45 year old 5kv Switchgear????

Maybe THEY would take to Med Volt Switches. There are companies that make electric operated switches if THEY need an automatic throw over scheme.

Controlling a VFD with laptop PC using PROFIBUS

Keith, I can not complain about THE BOSS as he did spring for the money. I work very little with PLCs. The KEY was when it came to mind, control word 47F hex is also 04 7F hex. That silly zero made 16 bits make sense. John, I hate computers, Schweitzer

Controlling a VFD with laptop PC using PROFIBUS

After much wailing and nashing of teeth, and the help of HMS www.anybus.com, Using their Master Simulator and software I was able to control a VFD using PROFIBUS

Controlling a VFD with laptop PC using PROFIBUS

Controlsdude, Thanks for the link. I am hoping for a simple program that turns my PC into a master and then using a 232 to 485 converter, control a VFD for testing purpose. Make sure the drive works with PROFIBUS.

Controlling a VFD with laptop PC using PROFIBUS

I am looking for a program that will turn my laptop computer into a Master to control a VFD using PROFIBUS. I have used MODSCAN 32 to do the same thing using MODBUS. This program works great. The idea is to test, run the VFD with PROFIBUS.

    Tapping a 4000A bus.

That is a good question. I never liked this idea to add just one more feeder. I have seen this with then a second feeder added. I have used this example to get a discussion going. One fella then asked what if one used cable protectors, cable fuses. Put these rascals on the cables when the...

Multi-Amp EPOCH-10 how to use two together

Help, I have two of these rascals, EPOCH-10 relay test sets and I want to use them in a master/slave configuration. My instruction book does not tell very well how to do this. Each set has a EPOCH-1 interconnect port EPOCH-2 control port...

    Phase rotation convention

My hat is off to Mr. SpartanV12. I have wanted to ask this question also but way lead on to way and I never did ask this question. I too was bit by the Clockwise and Counter Clockwise statement. I wanted ABC rotation, to me, counter clockwise. I have always wonder why, when I arrived on...

Controlling a VFD with MODBUS for laptop serial port

Mr. DPC, Thanks for your response I have seen Modscan. I am looking for someone who has done this. What program one has used and what RS 232 to RS 485 converter was used and some helpfull hints. J Schweitzer
