    Vacuum Baking Stainless Steel

I am trying to determine how long I need to vacuum bake a part at a certain temperature to remove hydrogen from the part. I have found the coefficient of diffusion, time constant and diffusion, but am stuck on how to determine the time required to bake the parts to reduce the hydrogen...

Vacuum bake out of 316 SS to prevent hydrogen outgassing

Thanks Ed. Follow up question. Everything I have read seems to correlate the thickness of the walls to the bake temperature/time. Anyone know the reasoning for this if the vacuum bake out process only applies to surface adsorption? Thanks.

Vacuum bake out of 316 SS to prevent hydrogen outgassing

Hi all, I am wondering if anyone has any information on vacuum bake out of 316 SS to prevent hydrogen outgassing? Temperature, duration, and vacuum pressure? I have read about the chambers being baked at around 400°C for 24 hours, but nothing about smaller parts. Thanks in advance.
