I tried this. I must be doing it wrong because when I pasteclipped back into the drawing it inserted both the new material that I added and the existing material. It basically placed the copied lines on top of the existing lines. The only way that I know to stop this is to make a new layer for...
I agree, but I want to find a reasonable balance. It is not required here but in some cases I think it is necessary. I think that the "one property" rule francesca spoke of is reasonable although I have a question. Would you need to have recorded easements along the side lots? If not, what...
Picture this: Residential subdivision, houses backed up to one another. The back yard of house #1 drains into the back yard of house #2 and then into the street. I want to put in a swale to catch the water before it goes into yard #2. The developer doesnt want to put this in for the following...
This is how I set finish floors in residential subdivisions- I am wondering if this is what everyone else is doing.
1. Draw house.
2. Find highest contour line that intersects house.
3. Add 2' to this to determine minimum finish floor elev.
4. Make sure that this is 1.5' higher than road if...
We are having a problem with file management. Laptop users copy an active file to their computer to work on the road. The person back in the office has no idea of this and adds data to the file on the desktop. Now there are 2 files with new info. Any ideas out there on how to manage this?
I use XPSWMM for complex modeling including interconnected ponds but it is hard to get started on it. I use Hydra flow for everything else and it is the best ive ever spent on software
Thank you very much for your help. We use curb inlets without grates and place them in the center of the radius. One more question: Assum that the the minor road is sloping down to the intersection. The cross slope of the major road is sloping in the other direction. Does this make for a...
Lets say I have catch basins at both corners - I dont want the water to cross the intedersection. Now do I match the centerline of the stop-road with the centerline of the thru-road instead of the edge of pavement? I would in effect maintain the crown and trap the water so that it would trap...
That clears things up a lot. If there are no catch basins (ie I want the water from the thru-road to cross the intersection it seems as if I need to eliminate the crown as you said. How and when should I make the transition? Should the transition be made in 10',20' or 50'? Thanks to everyone...
I am assuming that I need to make the "thru" road the control road and grade the other road "stop road, the road with the stop sign) to it. How do I consider the cross slope of the control road? When I am drawing the center line profile of the "stop" road do I draw it to the center line of the...
What is the best way to grade subdivision intersections when there is a storm box at each radius. Typically engineers here dont account for the differing cross slopes of each road. They just let the contractor figure it out. I dont like this.
I am a civil engineer. Most of the documents that I deal with are letter sized. However I was thinking that i should go to the bigger files for flexibility. But I can save a lot of room by going with the letter sized and then you dont have the letter sized docs floating around in a big folder...
