    Thanks for the info. I was just curious why the hinge would be designed this way. I guess this is a way of making sure the bottom of the door seals when it is closed, and does not drag or wear as it is being opened.

    Thanks for the bolt stress calculator link rmw. There is just one thing on the calculator I'm not quite sure of. I have data for nut factor (k), but regarding the "bolt torque factor" (q), is that generally left at the default 0.5 setting for most calculations ? Thanks John
