Mixing Steel and Aluminium in sheet plant

Can anybody direct me and name the most important issues that we should take into account when stamping/cutting &welding steel sheet products and aluminum sheet products on the same factory floor? For instance: are there any measures needed to shield steel chips from our aluminum sheet or...

Hot Dip Galv versus Cold Rolled Steel

as far as application goes: it's supposed to last for 10 years after having been painted. some parts are interior and would not necessarily need zinc, some are exterior. Basically we think we could save money using HDG as it will relax our demands on our paintshop.

Hot Dip Galv versus Cold Rolled Steel

Hello, in order to choose between HDG and CRS for our application I would like to know what a realistic long term -average- price difference would be between the two. Obviously I have checked historic prices at CRU monitor etc, but it's hard to average those and then make a good decision. Can...

correction... in the previous post "cast iron" should read: continuous casting of steel slab.

    nitrogen in iron

Agree with previous posts. We did do these tests with industrial grade nitrogen on cast iron. Be prepared to have tens of ppm's of nitrogen in your steel though, which can be advantegeous in some steels (eg for enamelling or for solid sol. strengthening), but the steel will be extremely...

    brass bolts - electrical connection

Dear all, we have brass bolts that should ensure proper electrical contact with a tinned ring clamped in between the bolts. The bolts are somewhat shielded from the outside environment with a cap but can nevertheless become wet by rain/condense etc. Is this construction safe for electrical...

    9SMn28 high T data

Hello, anybody out there that knows the properties of a 9SMn28 (cutting) steel up to T=500C? - Yield stress - Tensile strength - Elongation after fracture - Young´s Modulus - Thermal expansion - Thermal conductance - Specific heat capacity Of course for the thermomechanical data will not be...
