    what does 'VS' mean in 38MnVS6?

    (!) VS is an abbreviatioin for a heat treatment process like it is BY (best yield) V and S is not the abbreviation for vanadium and sulphur in this particular case. there are some other examples: C 70 S 6 BY for conrods C 45 VS 85 for conrods or 38 Mn VS 6 for Pistons according to Mahle...
