This came from SolidWorks support. I do not know if this will help any SolidWorks problems but this did fix Edrawings and Explorer.
This behavior has been reported before. The solution for this is;
There seems to have been a hoops viewer parameter that when set to the following value will...
No I have not.
This is a common card with the approved drivers so I have been trying to see if I have done something wrong.
It is strange that all my 05 Solidworks programs work OK (E-drawings and Explorer).
It seems as if 06 is just more demanding or I have a problem with the instalation...

Thanks for the info. I will talk to my IT guy and see what he can do for me. Do you think that this might also be the problem with E-drawings and Solidworks explorer that I am having. In E-drawings the parts are there but all I can see is a white screen. Same in SW-Explorer

Have you had any luck fixing your problem.
I am seeing more issues here. First time trying E-Drawings and Solidworks Explore and I have no graphics at all. I can go back and use 05 of both with no problems.
I have deleted and reloaded the display driver and do not see any difference...
I have just about the same system and I also see this problem. I keep my temp files cleaned out so I do not see this as the problem. I think this is a video card issue but have not had time to do any testing. I do not recall ever seeing this in SW05.

Scott,
Thanks for your reply. This is a new install. I have also kept SW05 on my system and it still works fine.
I have tried both repair and modify. I still have the same issue.
I have spent a little more time working with it and as long as I have more than one file open I do not seem to have...
I have just installed 2006. I start a new part, open a sketch, then extrude. At this point 2006 crashes. If I start two different parts and do a extrude in one of then I do not seem to have any problems. I have not done a lot more than this to see if I have any other problems. (I have opened and...
Light use may be a better term. Assemblies are no larger than 100 parts and a large part might be about 20 meg.
I will just have to give it a try.
Thanks

I have just rec. a new laptop(HP pavilion zv5340us).It has a AMD Athlon processor, 2.2GHz, 512MB RAM, 100GB. The video card is a GeForce4 440 64MB. The Operating System is Microsoft Windows XP Home service pack 2.
What are my chances that this will run SolidWorks 2005 for moderate use.
Jim
Joest,
These settings change the display of chamfer dimensions added to the drawing with the chamfer dimension command. I do not believe that it will change the display of those that are imported into the drawing from you part.
Jim
Create the drawing and save as a .dwg. Open it cut and paste into new drawing. Then make this into a block so that you can position it. Complete the rest of your drawing.
