    New part appearance in assemblies

Since switching to 2009 I have noticed that when I drop a part into an assembly its appearance is always shaded w/o edges, even though the rest of the assembly is shaded w/ edges. To get edges back on my new part I have to open the part and rebuild it. Its not a big problem, just kind of...

    Swept cut in SW 2009

Im running XP 64 and SP3.0 Right now Im able to sweep threads by drawing the triangular section, then sweeping along a straight line drawn through the axis, using "twist along path" and specifying pitch by the number of twists along the line drawn through the axis... My neighbor is running 32...

    Swept cut in SW 2009

Strange, when I set it to twist along path and have it twist by zero degrees I am able to get it to sweep... is anyone else having this issue?

    Swept cut in SW 2009

I am trying to sweep a triangular cross section through a helix to put threads on my part. Ive not had problems in any of the previous versions doing this and since we've installed 2009 I am no longer able to do this. Ive been using all of the usual tricks that have worked in the past and I...

    Stator Q's

I've got some new questions now.... I wound the stator, did as Maj suggested and found a one piece regulator rectifier unit (12V DC output, rated to 160W). I installed the new stator in the bike, wired the rec/reg unit and then I just plugged the leads into a 20W bulb that I had lying around...

    Stator Q's

Bill, This was what I was wondering about, whether the drag was already there before the extra windings were added (assuming the lighting system is turned off).

    Stator Q's

It is a 150, Honda CRF150F to be exact. Basically a kids trail bike. Here is a picture of the stator that shows the 8 posts and the 2 that were wound for the ignition. - http://photos-a.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-snc1/v1977/138/112/579926962/n579926962_2150864_6376205.jpg Thanks for the answers...

    Stator Q's

I have some basic questions about a stator. Specifically this one is in a motorcycle. The stator in question is static, has 8 posts, and 2 of them are wound for an ignition circuit. The remaining 6 posts are empty. I am planning to use them for a lighting circuit. Lets assume the lighting...

    Hole Inspection System

Im looking to measure thousandths, +/-.0005" would be acceptable for my needs. I can take my parts to the machine. I was hoping to find a 3 axis CMM machine to pick off most of my measurements, with a 4th axis tilting stylus, similar to a test indicator, that could acts as a profilometer to pick...

    Hole Inspection System

Im looking for an off-the-shelf hole inspection system. I want to measure things like: circularity straightness taper angularity/perpendicularity diameter surface roughness etc. The holes I am planning to inspect will be drilled. Diameters ranging from 1/4"-1.0" Anybody work with these machines...

    back driving ball screws

Is there a certain pitch that a ballscrew can no longer be back driven? I am looking at using a 2or 4mm pitch ball screw and nut. In the application the screw will be turned by hand only 1/4-1/2 of a revolution, but I want the screw to be returned to its original position using a compression...

TEXT within sketch driven by dimension and/or equation

I modeled a set of 6" calipers, and in the spirit of over doing it I wanted to try to get the digital display to read the measured value. As it is right now the display is a sketch using the text function. Is tere a way to link the text value to the driven dimenison between the caliiper jaws?

Mating a point to a curve

Handleman, I kept wrestling with it and I eventually did exactly as you said. One thing that I did learn was that the path must be perfectly smooth with no interruptions(i.e. spline) to mate a point to it. If you make your curve from two tangent arcs it wont want to mate a point to it. Dan - I...
