They think that it was due to the way our IT dept. loaded Office 2000. They force fed it rather than installing to a clean environment. Looks like one program's fonts stomped on another's. This makes some sense. We have seen it with other programs.
I have 3670 SolidWorks drawings that now have display errors because we changed to Office 2000. The text in my drawing formats is corrupt. It is somehow changing to Century Gothic (the original format was saved with Arial font). Any help would be appreciated. Has anyone seen this type of...
We use SolidWorks with MoldWorks and SplitWorks. It will auto-dimension. As you know, when dumping 3D data into a program, no dimensions are required. We use less and less dimensioning and more and more 3D data. When we use dimensions we do it the same way you do with a 2D package because it's...
Soupcat,
We are using 3D to design and create molds. Specifically where 3D information can be fed into a program for CNC or EDM. All necessary data for mold design; plates, pins, cap screws, etc., comes in 3D libraries provided with the software. A 2D print of the mold assembly and BOM can be...
smokehouse,
Look into MolWorks and SplitWorks. These are SoliWorks add ons that will greatly decrease mold design time. We are using them now and find them a great addition to SolidWorks. MoldWorks contains multiple libraries you can use. These product, in conjunction with SoldWorks help...
Oesterle,
Try the SolidWorks add on packages MoldWorks and SplitWorks. SplitWorks provides an automated core and cavity creation process based on your model. MoldWorks provides an automated mold creation based on this data. It pull from a standard library of molds that you buy as part of the...
I would also recommend SLS for functional prototypes because of the choice of materials. Also, certain vendors can use the same SLS process to create the core and cavity of an SLS mold. This allows you to get many prototypes instead of one. Some places can also use your CAD model to create an...
I did not say to work with SolidWorks outside of PDMWorks. I said be careful what you put in the vault. We put all released SolidWorks data in the vault. People will always have the choice whether to use current or out-of-date parts, with or without a vault. We also have the problem of some...
We put all of our products that are released to production in one folder named Released. The multiple project folder option will drive you nuts, specifically when dealing with parts that are shared among multiple projects. We have created a naming convention we use in the PDMWorks description...
