Volumetric flow input for a gas in Hysys

Hello gentlemen and ladies, I have been using Hysys for a few months now, and it dawned on me that I dont know how to input a flow specification for a stream as a volumetric gas flow. Std ideal liq volume isn't helpful. I did this by calculating the mass flow of a gas in standard conditions (0...

Application you use to complment aspen../PROIII etc..and do you link ?

Hello James, So far, we have used (according to client specifications), Aspen Hysys for just about anything involving process engineering. We usually check or fine tune our data with some in-house spread-sheets, PRO II, or other more speacialised calculators for certain applications. All in...

    activated carbon filter

There are more than one kind of activated carbon filters. Depending on the pore size, or any impregnation (substances like potassium permanganate, etc., check a manufacturers list to get a better ideea), the filter will retain certain impurities from that water, and release others...

    Ethylene peroxide exists?

    Thanks everybody

    Ethylene peroxide exists?

Good observations, I came to the same conclussion as you can't have a couple of oxygen atoms tied in to an ethylene chain. So ethylene oxide is probably the best guess. Anyone ever heard of EMSORB 6919. Apparently it's the product name for whatever this oxide is. Emery Industries was suppose...

    Ethylene peroxide exists?

Hello forum, I have a weird problem. A clients wants some manufacturers of Ethylene peroxide. I can't find any, better yet, I can't find the substance. There is a good chance the translation was messed up, but the original demand was "peroxido de etileno". Can anyone tell what i am looking...

Hysys dew point and bubble point results differ, databook vs. envelope

You are right, Paolo. I hoped that Hysys would be able to predict the correct buble points curves and dew point curves for flashing a mixture while using a property package like sour-PR (deals with water, SOx, and HC mixtures). But the truth is it wasn't designed for that. Apparently AspenTech...

    Dewpoints and bubblepoints in Hysys

Hello forum, I performed a few experiments in hysys with a mixture of methane, ethane, water and SO3. I tested the envelope of this stream, and compared it with databook-case study calculation keeping the pressure and vapour phase as independent variables (P=1 bar, vap phase=0 or 1 (bubble...

    tunning PID

And one more thing, Mr. Morten,...Ziegler and Nichols are two different people...so "he" isn't turning anywhere. Just wanted to support danw2s' method, but i would keep 2 variables constant and vary just one, dont't tune 3 at a time or you won't understant wich influences the system how. Good luck

Hysys dew point and bubble point results differ, databook vs. envelope

Thanks for the quick reply, Paolo. The thing i found most puzzling was the huge difference between the two ways of calculating the dewpoint and bubblepoint curves. Here is a printscreen of the bubblepoint curves. What do you make of it? I think every value over 10 bar could be ignored, but the...

    RCSTR with 2 liquid phases

Hello, I'm not sure if this will work, but you could try adding in a spreadsheet the volume fractions of the components in Liq2, and exporting that variable to wherever is needed. There could be an easier way, but im rather new to hysys myself. Best of luck!

Hysys dewpoint and bubblepoint results differ, envelope vs. databook

Good day, gentlemen and ladies, I'm dealing with gas mixtures, involving light hidrocarbons, water and sulphur oxides. As an experiment i created a stream with a composition of methane 0.4%mol, ethane 0.3, water 0.2, and SO3 0.1. P=1 bar, Flow=1 kmole. The property package PR seems gives very...
