I have imported some parts as STEP files from my previous CAD (Alibre) into SEwST, and it was suggested by support that these are best modified using ST. Trouble is, rounds and fillets seem to behave entirely differently.
I really can't seem to get to grips with ST - it isn't intuitive to me...
I'm not saying ST isn't a good product, it's simply that the change from a history tree with dimensional constraints implemented at the sketch level, to what seems to be a surface based constraint system with no sketches renders the majority of my modelling methodology developed using previous...
The worst thing about it is that they have changed the interface that had become familiar, and second nature when drawing. Whilst I like the new layout, it has resulted in quite a few support calls, and it is taking time to get back up to speed. I have also noticed that a fair number of default...
The EOR is nuts! By doing this he earns a small fee, but could be leaving himself and his insurers in the frame for damages way in excess of anything he earned during the "checking". As an independent consultant myself, I am pretty wary of organisations pulling a fast one to lay off risk.
If...
At least the re-install of SEwST seems to have cured the problem I had with assemblies. Can't see as I will ever use ST itself though - wasted a good many hours playing with it! IMO it's a different CAD product, not an upgrade or addition to the SE I am used to, and represents a totally...
Thought I would warn you:
If you revert to SE V20 after saving any traditional mode file in SEwST you will NOT be able to open the file again in V20. I thought this only applied to Synchronously generated parts and assemblies; unfortunately not.
I tried to revert this morning after having had...
I am sticking with the traditional tree based constrained sketch history mode. I like the new UI, but ST is too different, and I cannot do relatively easy things with it. I also crashed it whilst one of the UK resellers was watching via Beam Your Screen!
It is very difficult to model in ST and...
Having read these posts I feel better! I have been using Solid Edge extensively to design gasification plant, so its all flanges, pipes, sheet metal and framing. On investigating modelling in the synchronous environment it was as if I had returned to novice status! Some simple models seem nigh...
