Not recommended using PE pipe with extra large size. Why dont use double or triple lines instead of single line, with smaller size. It will be costly, but provide more safety, reliability, and easy for installation.
For orifice type, not always 10D upstream or 5D downstream for FO placement, it depend on piping run length, D/d (pipe bore/orifice hole), flow conditioner, and piping end configuration. As well as, any obstruction not allowed to be placed inside meter tube (upstream + downstream ) except only...
I think you talk about stub-in for pipe branching. Yes, this is one of methode accepted such as by ASME 31.3 (Appendix H), ASME 31.8 ( App-F) for pressure strength whether reinforcement pad is required. Practically you can use FEA or pipe stress software to assess and include thermal influence.
First, make sure you allowable stress whether designed for elevated temperature. Check most identical material to Table A-1, then see rating from B16.5 whether >2500.
The piping system already installed. I think, you should perform the draining test with such tapping usage scenario, and state the maximum and minimum flow during peak condition
Say, you have 100 m length of pipe rack. The height difference between pipe end will be 1 % x 100 m = 1 m.
It is not common to design pipe shoe with above 1 m height. As I have applied in the past project, the steam line is located on highest level of P/R, then apply pipe shoe with height...
I think, you shall cool it by fan cooler prior buried this pipe.
Otherwise it will be trouble for corrosion protection system and buckle stress. What standard is used ? For B31.8 gas pipeline, stress over yield is still allowed by maximum strain 2.5 %. Consult the CP protection specialist how...
Pipeline usually design for 20 or 25 years. 27 years in service without regularly ILI and cleaning ??? What kind of material used ? Have company planned replacement pipe after 25 years or integrity ?
Anyway this stuck area shall be cut and replaced. Then you dare to proceed pigging with stuck...
Metallic reinforced plastic pipe with >6" size, sounds like the great material instead of steel pipe, even better for corrosive water pipeline service in low temperature. But pipe load in service always the combination of P,T,&external load in 3 direction, and we cannot predict with any code how...
Hi All,
I want to ask for any expert here, how to perform stress analysis for above material and what kind of code/standard ? Is BS7159/UKOOA ( for GRP/GRE pipe) applicable for it ? The pipe will be buried with 8" size, 60 C.deg, and
2300 psig, with 30 km length as water pipeline.
Rgrds,
BigInch,
Thanks for advice, but please give your reason base on code requirement. Really confused to decide.
SJones,
B16.9 say only about thickness, not grade to rate the fittings.
Thanks for all response,
Here I just ordered to verified existing fabricated spool which consist of pipe API-X42 connected to A105(Flange #300) and A234-WPB(fitting).
This spool will be operated at following condition :
Design code: B31.8
Design Pressure/Temperature = 50 bar / 66 C
OD : 16 inch...
BigInch,
I agree with u, since this is common rule to equal grade and thickness.
But if we see 31.8 : t=PD/(2FES), which include design factor F=0.4 in this case, only used for PIPE not for other component (fitting, flange, etc).
Why shall be same in grade and thickness ?
Regards,
