Drafting - Custom Symbol - odd problem

Hi, I'm trying to create a Custom Symbol in the Drafting module. I'm doing the exact same proceedure as my collegues, and it works on their computers but not on mine. In the Define Symbol Window I can choose to place my new symbol under 1) "Custom Symbol Library / Part Symbols" or 2) "Custom...

    Advanced Simulation - Post View

Damn it. Accidentally clicked "Plot" instead of "Overlay" and lost 10 minutes worth of Post Views. "Undo" does not help:(

    Advanced Simulation - Post View

Hi, I'm comparing several versions of a design. Each version is represented in its own Post View in the Post Processing Navigator. I find it very convenient to be able to jump back and forth between the different Post Views, or even to show them side-by-side, in order to compare their...

    Advanced Simulation - Constraints

Hi, Struggeling with "overlapping constraints" in "Advanced Simulation". Seems like NX requires that individual constraints on adjacent surfaces (shared nodes on edges) must be defined in the same coordinate system (correct?). And I am not able to choose a specific coordinate system when I...

    High strength, low Young's modulus

Thanks for the replies! Titanium Beta C seems a bit fragile for my particular application, -it does not wear well. I'm currently considering ADI treated cast iron, which has a high yield stress and low E-modulus. Other ideas? /hpon

    High strength, low Young's modulus

Hi, I am looking for fairly strong materials with particularly high yield stress to Young's modulus ratio. Do you have any suggestions? /hpon

Reaction force - on specific restraint

Hi, How do I calculate the reaction force on a specific restraint? The LIS-file only prints the total reaction force. /hpon

Ideal Gas Law - domain of validity

Thank you, DOL! Very interesting. I shall keep that alternative in mind. /hpon

Ideal Gas Law - domain of validity

Thank you Ted and kcj, Ted, yes my description has been contradictory. The system will be subjected to both slow and rapid pressure changes. kcj, I cannot exclude the posibility of foaming. And the vesel could be mostly depleated from oil. My gut is dubious. /hpon

Ideal Gas Law - domain of validity

OK, that good and feels kind of right. However, it seems natural to think that if one bubble goes of, it will elivate the pressure in the surrounding fluid which in turn truggers other bubbles to combust in an escalating sequence, and so on. I take it, this does not happen very often in...

Ideal Gas Law - domain of validity

Ted and DOL, thanks for your replies! DOL, in respons to your ending paragraph. Wow! I did not anticipate that... An adiabatic idealization suggests a peak temperature of nearly 1200°C in an otherwise non-conservative case. In other more extreem senarios the temperature could probably reach...

Ideal Gas Law - domain of validity

Thank you DOL! That was a very valuable piece of information. Do you have more data points? In the current problem, a vesil of a variable volume V will initially be filled with N parts of oil and M parts of air (at 1 bar). Subsequentially, more oil will be added until the pressure reaches...

Ideal Gas Law - domain of validity

Thank you for your valuable replies! The pressure changes are slow in the sence that the process will be approximatelly isothermal. I just realized something else that might cause a bias from the Ideal Gas Law. The air is in fact small bubbles in a hydraulic media; and as the pressure...

Ideal Gas Law - domain of validity

Hi, I need a reliable mathematical model (P, V, T) of compressed air. The pressure ranges from 1 to 160Bar, and the temperature is bound by -30 and +70°C. Is the Ideal Gas Law "accurate" in the present case? An error of about 10-20% is probably acceptable. /hpon

Induction sensor - installed in solid iron

I appreciate your replies! The sensor I'm currently considering has a fairly linear respons ranging from 0-5V, in the distance interval 0-4mm. Based on Skogsgurra's (jag kanske hör av mig dig senare. Lägger gke på minnet i alla fall) post I assume that the output range will be diminished due...
