Has anyone been involved in the inspection/repair of a Load Tap Changer manufactured by a Company called ASP out of France? I have a customer with a National Industri furnace transformer that has a tap changer manuafactured by them and can not find any information on the company? Manufacture...
Hello!
I have a customer with a 34.5 KV delta system feeding a Electric Arc Furnace (EAF). The facility asked me to meter the system due to past equipment failures. (blown fuses, damaged PACS breaker).
They have three PT's in the metering vault, single terminal, rated 20,125V, 300:1. I...
Sorry,
I was away for some time! The core bolts are insulated from the core as they pass through the clamping rings. THey are then intentially grounded at one end to cause them to be at the same potentail and eliminate circulating currents. This design was from the manufacturer.
The on load tap changers are in seperate tanks with a seperate oil system. We did an inspection of the tap changer and the main tank, finding no indication of arcing. I share the concern about Acetylene. I had hoped someone would have some experience in this type of furnace transformer...

I have a customer with a 60 MVA National Industri unit that had circulating current problems that caused two of the top core bolts to be eroded away and break. All 8 core bolts were replaced and positively grounded. The unit was put into service in June-07 and is once again gassing at a high...

Please Email me directly with your experience in testing insulated bus with this process. Advise millage of insulation that is expected to pass this test. I have been testing these pieces per my supplier at 15 kvac only and did have 4 units fail with pinhole blowouts! Any help on...
Thanks for all of the responses! I have had discussions with various manufacturers of insulating materials and I am being told that the silicone inserts are used in a few new manufactured swgr. systems. What may have happened is the silicone (corona pad) was not extended out beyond the...
We have a 15 KV system with insulated bus (powder bed epoxy-60 mils) and G10 glass epoxy supports with silicone rubber inserts. The phase to phase spacing is 5-3/8” and the phase to ground is 3-1/2”. This was installed around Sept./Oct,2001!! We now see white powder forming around the support...
