Ha - I can relate! I had one of those at a previous employer. Great machine but what a chunk! That's why when I set up on my own I got the 15" version. Power supply isn't any smaller on the 15" version though!
I have a Dell M4600 15" laptop. It's a reasonable spec. (i7, SSD, 16Gb RAM, etc.) and runs SW nicely. Trouble is it's a BEAST... After a long day out this week, several train rides, cabs and walking around with it all day the size and weight were annoying me. It's impractical on a train, the...
WOW - that's impressive! I need to learn how to perform this voodoo! What would you say is the best way to learn it? Are the Inventor tutorials good?
I'll have a play with getting this working for a start then perhaps when I start to understand how it works I can make adjustments to suit...
Owing to a job change, I've transferred in from SolidWorks. Used the SW forum on here a bit but need some Inventor help now!
When creating a parts list on a drawing, I notice my item numbers are often out of sync. As part of our issuing procedure we:
- RMB on the view > Bill of Materials,
-...
A friend has asked me to lend a hand with some work short term as they are over-stretched. The work on my part would be done evenings/weekends as a second job and I live a long way away so I can't be under the same roof. So my question is, what is the neatest way to execute the job in terms of...
@MadMango - OK, I can understand that. I do minimal top-down so haven't come across the issue before.
@SBaugh - Agreed, I'm just a bit anal about defining sketches. It's a pet hate that I've evolved. I've been using infinite construction lines as it often negates the issue.
A friend called me with an odd problem: he's created simple sketch, dimensioned it and the info. bar at the bottom of the screen states 'fully defined'. 'Everything is black, including the line end points' he says. Yet, 'if you left click and drag a line, you can move it. Once you drop it, the...
I've used joints like that before, and I couldn't find any 'automatic' tool to create them. I ended up manually cutting and adjusting.
I agree with the above - it would be a cool enhancement.
You're not alone: I have a Logitech Performance MX and mine does this very occasionally. I've probably had it 18 months to 2 years and I think it's probably done it under 10 times. Close and restart SW sorts it every time, but I have NO IDEA what actually causes it! It's very infrequent so I've...
Are the parts on the other sheets in the assembly? If so, they should show up in the BOM... Possibly select the BOM and play about with the 'BOM type' options in the properties box on the left?
If they're not experienced design engineers, I would beat into them the importance of assembly structure and good mate practice. I'm working on something right now where the guy has used a bunch of 'short-cuts' to create his drawings: his assembly structure is illogical and it's taking me much...
Small update: I opened the misbehaving part this morning and can edit the design table just fine. Same goes for another part that had the same error. I'm working from home, so not connected to the office network, but otherwise can't think of any differences!
I'm getting an error message as per the title when trying to edit a design table... I've tried searching t'interweb and found an old thread which has a few suggestions, but nothing has worked so far. Behaviour is as unstable as they describe, however: I had the misbehaving file open on Friday...
