I am answering my own question upon receiving the contact blocks. The 800T version can have only 2 - 800TC-XD4S on the same operator with additional contact blocks on the next level. The 800F version is not capable of having any additional blocks on the second level.
Does anyone have any experience with the Allen-Bradley, Self Monitoring Contact Blocks (800TC-XD4S)? I was trying to determine if I could use 2 of these blocks on 1 800T operator along with 2 additional (regular) contact blocks.
Thanks,
I agree with Spook6869 (see above) as far as ease of use for Siemens. I have used AB forever and ocasionally get asked to use Seimens s7-300.
I think the addressing is confusing, especially when talking over profibus. The fact that you can only monitor one Function Block at a time. You can't...
I have seen, over the last 20 years, the PLC rack can have some problems with the backplane circuit board. I have had this kind (maybe not exact) of fault, probably twice. The circuit board was "flexed" and I assumed the connections were intermitent.
I thought I would give an update to my solution, as it is now installed and running, for some time now. (delays by others, as usual!!!).
I bought a Instek GPS-S table top power supply that could supply 0-30VDC @ 3Amps. The key to it was that it had a slave mode, which could accept a Analog...
Sorry for the long delay in response.
I am trying to get a variable output to a Valve device that is stepped from 1 Volt to 30VDC over time.
So my PLC Analog Output drives a device that can vary (from an analog signal) for 1 - 30VDC @2.5 Amps max Load. PLC outputs can't drive this kind of power...
With a PLC is it possible to get analog outputs of 0-30VDC @ 1.0 Amp max? It looks like the PLC analogs outputs go from +/- 10VDC. Does anyone know of a way to get a variable controlled analog from a PLC (possibly through another device) to get this kind of control.
Thanks
I have had this problem as well. The USB convertor does work (brand Keyspan), but the Auto config does not. You have to have the correct settings, in order to communicate (not always easy). I have had the same problem with another converter as well. And like "RLGAUTO" I have had one that does...
Man that guy is GOOD, one cable!!!
Thats what kills me about the movie Independence Day where the Computer Guy is able to download a virus into an alien computer in 5 seconds (no mention of interfacing problems). Sometimes I spend 1/2 day getting one Allen-Bradley component trying to talk to...
why don't you compare the rate of parts going in to the rate of the parts going out? If the ingoing rate is 1 part per second, the outgoing rate should get to one part per second (after an initial transit time). If the rate out goes down to 1/2 part per second, then one is missing. I don't think...
Are you trying to change the scaling of a point, meaning 0-10VDC to 4-20mA. Or are you trying to rescale a particular channel so that it reads correctly. I can give you the register locations for the later (based upon PLC5 documentation) and probably for the former as well (just have to look in...

This is a Six Sigma / Lean Manufacturing term for getting the job done.
We usually use off the shelf commercial units, they are much cheaper than any so called industrial units. Most UPS's are use for commercial computer backup.
We strap them to the bottom of the electrical cabinet with a bracket. We have also used inexpensive velcro for a hold down, but it doesn't...
