We have been a certified VR Stamp shop now for 3 years and are getting ready for the renewal process. Does anyone have an idea what would be involved with this audit? Will we be rebuilding valves or sending off site for testing like what was done in the intial process? Any help or guidance...
I took the test in December 2010 also. I passed on my first go but still recommend attending a training session regardless your experience in welding. This was the hardest test I have taken to date and I have passed the API 510, 570 and 653 exams. I attended the CWI prep at Hobart in Troy...
Welding Ta is an art and if going to be used for Corrosion Prevention please take special care in developing good techniques. Use good testing also after welding othewise poor welding will result in leaks.
Take care and hope this...
It is very very difficult to use in a pipe rack! We use it vary rarely in the rack as having it in a JLG while shooting makes the picture very blurry. If you have any radiography background it is simple to understand because the film (Plate) stays still and the JLG moves. Think of dental...
We currently have the Eresco and like the technology. We use it for profile RT, B31.3 and Sect. IX stuff right now. Not fully integrated into the system yet and use outside services still. Are you going to use this for in-process x-rays or all new? The reason I ask is the source you will...
First.....contact an NDT Inspection company.....you will need them for your x-rays anyhow. They can help guide you through all the testing needs. You will need certified examiners to conduct the tests required to be an "API 650" storage tank. The fabricator can help you with this and many...
Thank you both very much for the information! We have people here onsite that believe PWHT is not needed for repairs. I always thought with PWHT at construction you would be required to conduct PWHT after repairs also.....This just confirmed my thoughts.
Thanks again!
I have a DA Tank onsite that is PWHT (As Built) that is in need of some repair. I was always under the impression with PWHT you are required to stress relieve after repairs are completed. The tank was never required to be PWHT but we are stuck with it now. Am I required to conduct PWHT after...
Are you talking about a new vessel or an existing vessel? With new vessels we require VT as a minimum on ALL welds and documenting in the file your inspection results. Process equipment that has been in service is a different story. Thoughts on different load stresses and process upsets...
Also...sorry about this note....The lower of the 2 nozzles once straightened has a bulge in the neck about 1/2" from the shell weld. This makes me want to insist on replacement.
As you can see from the photo both nozzles just above the trailer were bent. And to my knowledge no NDT was performed.http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=a979344c-5ae0-4ef3-b522-2c442c73f268&file=100_081977.JPG
During shipment from the fabricator’s shop, our pressure vessel shifted and bent 2 nozzles on the shell section. The vessel was shipped back to the contractor for repair of the nozzles. The contractor just hammered the nozzles back to position. Is this standard practice to just hammer on the...
