    2-piece Floating rotor set-up design

You know what - You are right, this was a little lengthy, I apologize about that. I was able to figure this out. Calculate the force generated to move a given amount due to thermal expansion at your operating temperature. From there you can select your spring rates.

    2-piece Floating rotor set-up design

Do you design for a preload that does not exceed a value that would prohibit radial expansion? - Thinking out loud here...

    2-piece Floating rotor set-up design

Hi everybody, I am working on designing a 2-piece floating set-up for a road car (that will also see some track time). I understand the fundamentals of the floating rotor design. I have the rotor material (G3000 Grey C.I) I have the Hat material (6061 Alu) I have seen rotor temperatures on a...

    Absorption mufflers - fine tuning

Thanks for the response Mike, I do have that equipment (although new to me personally. I suppose my main question was; given an absorptive muffler, what is a way I can increase the Transmission loss on that given muffler? The resonance inside the cabin right now is acceptable for product...

    Absorption mufflers - fine tuning

Hi everybody, I am working on an exhaust project to release for a popular turbocharged hatch platform. I am trying to work around the constraints that have been placed (I took over this project from someone else who has since left) Constraints - the system right now consists of 3" piping from...

    Brakes achieving TUV cert.?

Well we were talking specifically about the OEM brakes off a German vehicle. I'm honestly not sure if my questions is clear or if I'm providing enough informamtion to justify an answer. Thanks for any information anybody can offer,

    Brakes achieving TUV cert.?

Hopefully this is the section nearest to a topic regarding brakes. How does a brake kit from Brembo for example achieve TUV ? How about OEM? Does anybody know any of the standards the brakes must meet? This is probably very broad, but I'm looking for general information. Thanks, enlighten...

    Spring rate tester: Gauge?

Hi guys, We've got an extra spring rate tester here that is not being used. I'm trying to bring it back to life just for fun (on a budget) I'm buying a new bottle jack, and want to purchase a new high pressure hydraulic gauge as well. Any recomendations? Accuracy is important Thank you,

    Bleeding tire at HOT ?

Hi guys, I've always read you must bleed tire pressures when the tire is cold. However... Lets say I'm at the track and after my session the tires are 3psi above my target, so I bleed 3psi when I come in the pits before letting the tires cool. I am probably missing something very basic, but...

    Water Wetter?

Hi guys, Can anybody recomend a paper or article that goes in depth about the effects of using water wetter? Perhaps even a study? Thanks Jared E

    Load on lower shock mount

Thanks for the responses guys. I agree, 4in/sec may be a litle too slow. I would think the lower mount would be fatigue limimted as well, why is this not the case?

    Load on lower shock mount

Hi there, Quick question, hoping to find some advice... I am trying to perform an FEA on an end eye I want to use on my rear shocks, (lower mount) How do I determine the load to apply? I have the vehicle weight and damper curves. Here's what I was thinking: Use the weight at the given...

    ARB contribution to wheel rate?

Thank you for all the very insightful posts everybody, here's a little background so you can understand why I asked this question. I have a B8 A4, and B8 S4. These cars have the same motion ratio front and rear. I have a susp. setup on the A4, and am trying to achieve the same chassis frequency...
